That's cause we have crappy winters. Hurricanes only exist so we won't complain too much about our god damn winters. ;)

well it sucks when he's been building a house for over a year and theres no windows on it.. ide imagine the he'd have to start over. when you think about the damages and how home owners suffer loss ... the government doesnt seem so bad considering they put hundreds of millions of dollers into hurricane relleaf every year. to help people who have been literaly flung from their homes and into shelters. maybe you people forget that the u.s. people are still people.

I still don't see why they don't move communities instead of rebuilding. I know its not always viable... but its gotta be sometimes.

actually one of the reason the florida economy is so great is because of all the construction and real estate goin on there.Insurance covers the losses and people get more jobs...its kinda like finding a diamond in a piece of shit...

that's not true .. just cause insurance cover something like water damage hurricanes ..etc.. doesnt make it cost friendly it just means that insurance coverage is hi .. the reason construction and real estate are big bucks in florida is cause there is limmited water propertys and everyone is buying them up.. projects like condos are being payed for ten times over before they even start construction. water front property is sky rocketing espin places like fort myers cape coral naples .. cause they arent allowed to dig anymore canals.

btw the real estate market is so big because the demand exceeds what is available.

im telling you...the guy i stayed with owns a contracting company and his wife is a mortgage broker...you saying they dont know shit?I'm not saying you are totally wrong, but you are not 100% right either. The largest growing real estate market in Florida right now is Orlando. Not a beach or waterfront property in site unless its by a lake.
What part of Florida were you in?

florida is hurricane prone(this is the 7th this year), meaning they pay a shit-load of insurance each month/year to begin with. Insurance isn't free, especially when they expect (no, KNOW) that you're gonan use it. The higher the risk the more you pay. There's wood houses in Montreal that cost the city 100,000$ in fire insurance a year just to keep standing (EACH). I know of at least one anyway. and it's not that big.
