It's been a while I've been trying to wrap my head around attitudes and practices within the scope of "dating" at parties and raves. I've had in my mind that we're all stuck within the bounds of societal self doubt. We, many of us, approach things with an idea of how "these things" work and in doing so, limit ourselves in that we create our own barriers unwittingly..

I'd been thinking about my relationships a bit tonight and came across a the word polyamorous so I dug for more info, it interested me and I thought I'd share it with you. I believe Polyamory suits me just fine.

I've, like I said, until now had a difficult time wrapping my head around the idea of polyamory, never heard of it. Lovely word, much better conversation than boyfriends. ^_- mwaha

polyamory is just society transcending past artificial set limits on things like so-called 'morality'
ie it's indecent to be with more than one person at once.

just because it doesnt for you, or for someone you know, doesnt mean thats the general consensus

it actually works quite well for many who i know personally.

i've always said its much better to be up front an honest than cheat or pretend there is a "relationship" for couple weeks then move on

One day my penis will be big enough for me to share it with more than one person

err... i mean one day I'll be confident enough to share my penis with more than one person...

wait. no. i mean one day i'll be self-actualized enough to share myself with more than one person.

actually.... what i think i mean is... orgy! who's in?

nah but seriously, makes perfect sense but as ScottyP pointed out, i think its difficult to put into practice. All persons involved had really better be damn well self-actualized before jumping in or they're gonna get hurt.

I think if everyone in the world was a sociopath, it would work out great.

Jelousy is something deeply seeded inside us, some more than others. But I beleive it is the biggest thing preventing people from having polyamourous relationships. One person always gets a little jelous at some point and it fucks things up.

Threesomes in my opinion don't always constitute polyamory. I think polyamory is a more involved relationship with 2 boy/girlfriends that don't nessesarily have to love or actually even know eachother, but it is usally only ethical if they know of eachother.

Polyamory is just the early stages of polygamy, which isn't the same as having sex with multiple people..

i think polygamy revolves more around the concept that men should have multiple wives because men are always able to ... further the reproductive process whereas when a women is pregnant she is incaple of further conception until after birth. to my knowledge polygamy came into practice as a method to increase the size of the family, and consequently the economic productive function of the family thus furthering the wealth of the [man] at the head of the family to greater success in society. polyamory explicitly states the concept of "love" at its forefront. polygamy more often than not has little to do with love and more to do with function. Although i'm sure that feelings (however strong they are) are implicit before one decides to marry his/her 6th wife/husband.
