For those of you who haven't seen it yet... Go! Go now!
That movie -despite any objections towards Tom Cruise, or how it wasn't better than the original- was fucking amazing!

The special Effects blew me away, and the quality of how the directors conveyed the sheer panic people may go through during an alien invasion was pretty fucking intense, to say the least.

It was nice...I was kind of stuck in my seat...But to many things are not explain...I think it's the first time Spielberg don't explain everything...

the movie was good, but left me unsatisfied.

i wish he handn't decided to keep to the "camera always on cruise" thing..

like it would have been nice to see more of the military being shown.. bo well.

I for one appreciated the "not explaining every single detail" treatment. I'm so tired of obvious movies that find a way to really dumb it even lower by explaining absolutely EVERYTHING. Some stuff should be left to the imagination.

Now, maybe I was a chicken shit that day or really into the movie but it truly terrified me like I can't remember a movie terrying me this much in the past few years. Indeed, Spielberg really found a way to transmit the sheer terror experienced by people to its audience. No mean feat, I'll tell you this much.

And Neoform, I'm pretty certain he avoided showing too much of the military to avoid obvious Independence Day comparisons...which isn't even remotely related.

So yeah, I recommend this movie. This and Batman : two entirely different movies, two excellent ones at that.

It's actually a really good movie minus some really lame scenes which went on a little too long... I would give it a good 85%.

It wasn't all that bad. Obviously it's not the book or the original radio play, it's got a few diffrences that didn't make too much sence, but overall it was a pretty good movie. Only once did I find they were reeeeeeeeally expecting the audience to believe something COMPLETELY impossible, but I was expecting it anyways, considering it's how Spielberg manages to take any movie that's got great potential at being scary and very much horror, and giving it family-friendly "Our family will survive on LOVE" theme going on.

He did manage to pull one thing off perfectly, and that's the same theme as Night of the Living Dead. A lot of the scenes weren't so much about aliens destroying the planet so much as they were about how humans are completely inconsiderate about other humans and refuse to work together to achieve a greater goal, instead resorting to violence and murder to get what they want, when they want it.

CAUTION I TRIED TO AVOID SPOILERS BUT CLEVER SOULS MIGHT CATCH ON

all i can say is if it happens were fucked (well, i read so many s-f i might have death ray/alien invasion survival skills burried deep in my brain). No way aliens would forgot to think about what those aliens forgot. Especially if they studied us for years. But when it was written 'it' (what wins it for us) was a media phenomenom (just like ID4 and the computer virus).

bah, my problem was that these allmighty powerfully aliens burried their ships underground long ago..

why wait until man conquers the world before chosing to take over?
and the whole "immesurably superior minds" somehow forget to check the planet like that. lame.

That was one of the biggest problems I had with it also. I mean, how did we not notice them buried? Sure, they were burried deeeeeeeeeeeep and a long time ago, but it still doesn't make sence that we didn't know about them.
