There is this ever slight possibility that you might be confusing opinion and truth here. 3. Please take this into consideration : Jungle and drum and bass have been influenced by Goa, Acid house, acid breakbeat, Trance, Hardcore, Country, minimal techno, dancehall, hip-hop, reggae, and so on. As a matter of fact, Jungle is a direct descendant of acid breakbeat, which itself stems from Acid house. Congo natty, the jungle brothers, mc navigator, the ragga twins, etc., were acid house and acid breakbeat mc's before jumping ships. Drum and bass is a distinct entity, and at the same time a continuum of different styles. There was a time when junglists were known to have * broad * musical interests... they sampled everything and incorporated it into their music. Changing times... 4. I define myself as a junglist, but I like to hear different stuff. Good trance ? There is amazing trance out there. We as drum and bass producers could learn a thing or two from trance producers. It's all about keeping one's mind open, I say. Now, how could a discussion about music turn so wrong ? |
