it was 9.0.. i heard the same
dan was vacationing on phucket island( which by the way is awsome) where he was , was not hit... only the 'chicken island 'was hit where i actually had a relative... that island was hit because it isnt as close to the inside or the shore if i may, as the other were, most of the small islands are surrounded by the larger one and are less likely to get hit... i have not heard from dan recently, but he doest not live remotely close to the shore... i have his number in bangkok, ill call him and give him regards from all of you , if thats alright :)... |

hi everybody
This has been quite a shock to me, as when the earthquake hit I was trekking in the mountains of northern thailand, so I didn't even find out until a few hours ago. I'm still trying to find out which areas were affected and whether anyone I know might have been there. Oh, and donating is a really excellent idea. |

Many people in Sri Landa, Indonesia, and even Thailand live very simple lives, and depend on a few meagre belongings for their entire livelihood. Take, for example, a family that subsists on fishing, and owes their existence to a single fishing boat that might have been passed down for several generations. Destroy this boat, and the family will likely end up as beggars. When something like this happens, and people loose their ability to make a living, its a catastrophe for the future of the country. |

Apparently the disaster shifted the world off the axis just a tad and actually sped up the rotation of the earth, causing us to lose day time. |

crazyiness!!! over 100K casualties
not that i believe it or anything, but karma for the sex tourism industry? ouch |

karma? thousands of children were sucked right out of their mothers arms and thousands of babies and children are orphaned. i dunno but that sounds like harsh karma. it shoulda happened to the people in bangkok who supported the sex trade industry and they didn't even get hit. |
