halloween isn't celebrated here. jerks. 1st of all.....Panameans called you Gringa Chealse....that, right there, wouldn't make sense to me.....you are NOT a gringa...the term Gringo is from Mexico and it comes from the word "green" (spelled "grin" in spanish) in regards to the colour of American currency and "go" as in go away!....so in other words, it's sOOOOOOoo not as simple as calling it "hate against white people" since Canadians are NOT considered gringos nor are Europeans and a black person CAN be a gringo if they are fom say....I dunno..... Alabama!.... Now about Halloween......see, in Mexico we have an equivalent to "Halloween".....it's called "El Dia De Los Muertos".....in english, it means "The Day Of The Dead" which is around the same time as in Halloween and is the day when we pay hommage to our deceased loved ones by celebrating their past lives and having a good time around their tombstone (right on the grave yards...yeah that's right...) all through the night with music and all that jazz, dressed up as skeletons (mostly) because they would have wanted us to be happy for them being in a better place instead of crying for leaving this far-from-perfect-world......kids are present as well and they get tons of treats (candies and sweets of course).....that's a big culture clash right there! hehehe...and that's just because the Aztecs and Mayans didn't portray death as a human curse but more as a divine rite of passage.....even human sacrifice was like the ultimate honour.....even for a Toltecs :b (I spell it "Toltech" for obvious reasons) and that general feeling is still very present in many latin-american countries.......(a.k.a. "We don't die, we multiply" ;))....I guess when you feel as one with nature, death is just, as Disney would put it, part of "the circle of LIFE"..... or something along those lines......well that's just me being from Tabasco again hehehe but seriously....in Mexico, "Halloween" has a deep meaning with a very deaply stiched tradition that has been around for centuries even before Mexico ever heard of the concept of the Spanish language.... In conclusion, we do celebrate what is known as "Halloween" in Mexico but in a different fashion. I'm just hoping that I shared something instresting here.........ciao..... P.S.: I can totally see how it would come off as weird since I did grow up in Montreal ever since I was 3 years old and all and that I have never celebrated Halloween in that way but I do hope I can experience it at least once in my life.....just to say I did it....or something.... |

Okay....
Very intersting, however, with regards to what may, or may not be happening on Halloween: Who here would be interested in a KEG party where all you have to pay if ,roughly, $5 for a cup that you could fill until the kegs go dry, in a location that could hold less than or equal to 300-people, that would be located 36 1/2 paces from Vendome metro? We have a plan in the works... If your intersted? (just trying to get a census) |

Ultimately, we just need to figure out how many kegs would be necessary... And if enough people would show to help drink them. |
