Lets see
1995 Referendum
Do your history!
The federalists still one, but the seperatists CHEATED, they had people mis count ballots, saying some were yes when they were indeed NO.

Canada isn't exactly squeeky clean either. Granted, its much much more cleaner than the US's record. We live in a social democracy. The government is who decides 90% of the things that happens in this country, not us. We just elect the people who make the decisions for us.

yes you're abosolutely right, the government controls eeeeeeeverything we do, we have no control over it, and we're all slaves who have no choices to do anything.

wake the hell up, voting for people who make the choices for us is called democracy... and it's the best system we can get.

The principal $$$$ investors (and only ones) in Bush's electoral campaign when he was elected was ....EXXON..... Exxon=petrol=$$$=war=Afganistan=Irak=pollution=evil ,it's just a pure coincidence hein ??? And we're getting more and more close to US in many things.Even Jean Chrétien knows that and that's why Canada's rectifing Kyoto's protocol. That's because Chrétien knows it's some of the last decisions this country's gonna be able to do even if the US's don't agree.Next after Chrétien,...watch out...And i'm not an alien and don't deserve to be killed.I'm just tring to be realistic...

canada will never become the US, since the US is packed with an arrogant population who doesn't know anything about the rest of the world. Canadians will never put anyone into power that would turn us into the US.. it's quite simple.

From the sound of it, you're quite against globalization and free trade.

free trade wont make people poorer. it might make YOU poorer, but it'll balance things out a lot more.. people in poor countries will get paid more, and you will get paid less.

which in it's self is why so many people are against free trade.

the reason canadians will never be americans is this: The entire ideology of the american people and their whole founding thoughts were based around ONE thing and one thing only... MONEY. Economic freedom was the whole reason tehy revolted and broke away from britain (boston tea party ring a bell?? mercantilism is a cruel mistress) Economy is the driving force behind american life. And violence is her expression.

Canadians on the other hand, never broke away from britain. WE are still a british colony. We didnt even have our own constitution until 1982.

We aren't a british colony anymore, since 1982. The constitution is not official, by the way, because not all countries have signed it. Or have you forgotten Meech Lake.
Our constitution is not even agreed on by every province because thanks to meech lake, Quebec, the greedy little ass that they are, asked for TOO much and once they finally agreed to sign (They were the ONE that didn't sign in 82) like 4 provinces backed out because they wanted as many "incentives" as QC was getting and they weren't given them.
The constitution and laws are lies.

(Wow, history class is sticking... odd...)

yeah i know quebec is a greedy whore... i didnt want to get into the specifics of Canada's global status... but officially we still ARE part of the commonwealth, making us part of Britain. Meech Lake was in `89 and it was Newfoudland and Manitoba that didnt want to sign it within the three year deadline, making it so Quebec is the only province not to have signed a constitution that was made BY Canada and not Britain.
And that desnt make any difference to my comment that economy is the driving force behind all of the US's actions since it was economic freedom that spurred their rebellion against Britain in the first place. Also (just as a side note and because we seem to be sharing historical tidbits that you may think others dont know) did you know that the US didnt get "freedom" until 1789? and not 1776 as their national day asserts? It was only in 1776 that they wrote their Declaration of Independence. Britain never approved of it and their complete victory did not come until '89, when the war ended and Britain gave them their independence.
