Well... I bought a camera on eBay (SONY DSC F717) for 400$ or so plus shipping. The guy has been an eBay user for some time now and had 297 positive feedback out of 298. I figured I could trust him right? Well, apparently I was wrong. This guy is like nowhere to be found, and all the information he gave me was wrong. (the tracking number doesn't exist... anywhere)
So yeah... I'm angry a lot.
Hopefully this is covered in eBay's insurance-like thingy.
Because I'm gonna be very upset if I just lost over 400$ for nothing.

contact ebay through the fraud warning program. this is the first step in recovering money through an auction. If you paid through paypal and it has been 30 dayts or less, you can recover through them, otherwise you have to go through ebay. Ebay will send you the complete contact info, including phone #, for your seller. Attempt to contact them. If that doesn't work, aftre you have filed this report and waited x amount of time, you can enter the next step to recover your funds from ebay. There is a maximum you can recover.

dino if he lives in the states you are going to have one hell of a time getting your money back.

Also make sure you make the claim before 90 days, because after 90 days it falls out of ebay jurisdiction, and then you will have to get a lawyer, which will end up cost you even more money. by the time everything is done, you'll have spent 1000$ and could have bought a better camera.

ps. the sony DSC F717 isnt that good. its good, but not that good. Its great for p/s type shots, but professional, not so good. anyways 400$ is a stilla great price for that cam, considering it sells new for about 750-800. ANyways i won't get into the debate of 1000$ fixed lens digital cameras vs dslr.

good luck dino. I once got fucked out of 75$ for books. They cashed my cheque and post poned and post poned till i couldnt do shit.

Neo i never said it was a bad camera, but compared to what its abilities are compared to the dslr it doesnt really stand a chance.

1000$ + fixed lens digital cameras in my opinion are a waste of money, especially with the digital rebel eos 300D and nikon d70. P/s cams are great, but no one should spend more than 300$ on one.

i bought a camera also off ebay, and well if you buy it off a respectable ebay power seller *online ebay stores, pay with creditcard or paypal, you are protected pretty well. look up the new ebay master card... extra protection.

just react early; after 20 days from purchase if it has not arrived yet, file complaints no matter how nice the seller is and how much they swear they shipped it. if you end up receiving it, no harm done. if not, you got history and most likely can recover the deough

on direct credit card purchases you got 60days noship/bad product insurance anyway...

Ebay will get you your money. they are good like that. if this person is really fake, then you will get every thing back just fine.
i have had problems like that.. not the same, but very similar. Trust the Ebay!

Even if the user has good feedback there's always a possibility that the user got his user/pass stolen by a scammer.

When purchasing expensive electronics it's always a good idea to go through an escrow service. If the seller refuses then it's fishy.

Don't you just love when this kind of stuff happens to other people and then you watch them whine and whine about a problem that takes 2 minutes to solve.
