Don't spend your hard earned money on lights, sketchy ravepromoters don't have the money to rent them anyways, and honestly are u willing to rent ur brand new stuff to a dirty warehouse party which could get shut down by the police any time during the night?

I bought lots of lights, lasers, strobes and other stuff, i have proper stands for them, and now they're just sitting in my closet, and only rent them to people i can trust, and that is a very small amount of people..

One of the promoters wanted to buy 400 braclets for the party from me, so they were expecting a lot more than 200 :)

I see your point Vinny, but the main thing here is that they charged 20$ at the door, so for that money you kinda expect a bit more than you would do at a 5$ event, right?

Let's compare:
Squiggles And Scribbles
10.00 - Presale
20.00 - At the door
15.00 - People from Quebec and Ottawa, with proof of residence

Rewire 4: Enter The Bunny
First 500 @ 10$
Next @ 20$
Door (If any left) @ ???

pretty close money wise, same concept, 2 rooms, local deejays... right?
now the kids go to rewire and they're "omg its the best party ever", Sound system, lights, visuals, proper bar and all that jazz and they paied 20$!

and then comes this other party...
the kis go, and they're like "omg i can't see shit, and where's that sound coming from? are there any speakers?.. can we drink something here?.. man i still can't see shit... did i pay 20$ for this?"

But yeah i didn't go i don't know...

but i guess with the new invite system.... ppl who get invited will put themselves on the attending to be nice even if they're not going.. :P

many owners will be like "wtf" if you want to rent their place for one night only, then lets say they agree and ask some details about your "party", like when it ends.. you tell them in the morning... and if they're not too dumb, they'll figure out that it's a rave party, and thats a NO-NO

it doesn't take much to get the right equipement
i mean is it so complicated?
1 - mixer
2 - turntables
3- cdjs
4 - at least one monitor for the dj

Wally, Felix and I did some loft parties last year which we advertised as raves but specified that its small friendy partey with a max of 100 ppl...
Just because it was at a loft we still did everything we could to ensure a good time to the partygoers and the djs!
-Proper sound system and gear
-Coatcheck
-Bar with water and energy drinks

and we managed to do these events with a door price of 10$....

It's my personal opinion but having one-two style in 8-10hours gets boring, i like psytrance but if i had to listen to more than 3hours of it i'd just want to kill myself... i LOVE hardstyle but i couldn't do an all night hardstyle event...
Mixing up styles, that makes some kind of a progression (not minimal house to happy then to electro as you guys said it above) is fun and adds something to the party, it warms ppl up with slower and smoother music and makes them dance hard as fuck around the end...

I think one hour sets are reasonable, unless the dj playing is a headliner, out of town dj that won't have the chance to be here for some time after the show, and that the promoter wants people to get to know the djs style better...

Personally I always paied my djs no matter if i lost or made $ with the event!

Mise à jour » ravedave a écrit dessus Sun 4 May, 2008 @ 10:20am
Where's the quote button? Anyways..

Deadfunk:
and i think the "new" promoters think that doing a rave is like doing a party at home. but they have to know that a dj pays for his gear, his track, his time... ect... he HAS to be paied in return.

===

I check the calendar every day to edit some events and stuff.. and just because i have lots of free time :P
I noticed there are more and more parties thrown by "promoters" who have been raving for less than 3months and are aged between 15 and 17...
They don't really care about quality, more like inviting people to a kitchen and make them play on da computer speakrs while the so called promoters can go buy more drugs with the money made at the door..

SADDD

i'm pretty sure
-finding a place
-getting proper permits
-getting sound and setup for 3 stages
-food and water supplies
-security and medics on site
-etcetc
will be pretty expensive and i think getting permits would take more than a month to get which basicly means this won't happen outside...
