Yo geeks, i have a "problem". Im sick of hearing, my pc processing in my headphones, it is a very weird noise that seems to react to my mouse moving, or to any other operation. I have a soundblaster audigy, but i have heard those noises on other systems as well. Is there a quick fix out there ?

got the same issue with my laptop. tuning the volume down then up again usually solves it ... now if only I could find a way to get my line-in working again :(

I tried it, and did not work, for your line in, try re-installing your drivers ??

yeah, tried the drivers, nothing will do.

I think that somehow, the pressure kinda screwed up some components during the last flight, everything was working fine before I landed here :(

yep, by the way, the line in still works technically ...
it just picks up all processor/fan noises and makes anything else inaudible.

Luckily I can get by using a USB headset.

or throw it out the window.

May be interference.
May be that your audiocard is loose, maybe you need to reinstall your driver, maybe you suffer from ears problems.
I'm feeling super right now..

I'd noticed something similar a couple of times.. I'm not 100% sure exactly what it is, but it's got to do with the mouse cursor on-screen.. like the monitor refreshing the mouse-movement "bleeds" a hum to other components.. I wish I could help you more, I just don't know exactly what it is, but I've heard it before and I know what you mean..

Try moving around some cables, like put your speaker's cables as far away from your monitor's cables as possible, or move your speakers as far away as you can manage from your screen.. I think it's a shielding issue, like the speakers aren't well shielded and picking up that slight hum from the refreshing of the screen when the mouse moves..
I'm feeling your norks right now..

I can hear the sound anytime my cpu usge is above 20%. It is not only the mouse movement. I can also hear the sounds on my speakers, wich are a good 15 feets away from the pc. So i dont think the interference is coming from my monitors. (the sound is also audible when my monitors are unpluged)
but thanks for helping troubleshoot !

there's cheap USB bluetooth headsets with integrated sound cards under 30$ so either get one of those and blug it in your soudsystem or preferably get one that only had a sound card.
I'm feeling lucky that my countr right now..

might be something to do with your fan, then. Lots of newer computers have a fan that auto-adjusts speed based on how hot the CPU is getting; there might be a bad ground or some internal shielding that's not working well that's picking up the sound of the fan spinning faster to keep your CPU cool.

My last sound card was usb, the sound was horrible ! ok, i must admit it was a 99 cents sound card, but the soundblaster i have now outperform any usb one for sound quality ! btw i was also hearing the noises with the 99cents card.

first start with being aware that your power outlet is really 120v with common and ground.

some old houses givesout 120 across common and live but when compared to ground they giveout 2x60v.

so bad gound in your house would do that,

next comes box ( applicance ) proper isolation and ground.

and leaky capacitors can do that too.

but what is really common , is that the appliance is made too small, and you get to hear cross talk

since all is compressed so tiny.

: you hear the ground acting as an antenna. so coveringt the part that emmits with a metal casing

would half the noise.

one other thing some computer now use SPREADSPECTRUM genclock, and sometimes THIS CAUSES IT since it

tries to hide computer clock cycles from being environmentally picked up on sending the clock

on many different spectrums instead of the dedicated clockgens.

the question is : has it always did this ? or did it occured from usage.

if you dont see me participating lately , im sorry but i get aggravated by the boards attitude sometimes and feel i owe myself time well spent . tis explain my tuning out. sorry i try to spot these postes. if you see me passing by , try to bump it till i see it :P good luck try to answer my two questions.

AND I SAW A FEW ATTEMPT TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION : BUT REST ASSURED THIS IS HARDWARE, NOT A SOFTWARE ISSUE AT ALL. WE ARE BINDED TO PHISICS. if the phisics were good the software would not create that.

anyways, here is a quick fix, you take your headphone wire. by using the jack end. you roll

a leng of wire around a FERRITE RING. or use a hi-pass filter.

but i have to warn you, some people also hear higher than other humans, and you actually hear the frontside bus / clocklines transmission.
I'm feeling 4hz even if you dont right now..
