how did he get them blue eyed and blond haired? It never said that he artifically inseminated the women (or even just inseminated them). I can understand how hormones can increase the rate of twins, but I never remember brazilians being blue eyed or blond haired...
I'm feeling like a failure right now.. |

well, blonde hair and blue eyes is technically a genetic defect.. it's a lack of a certain type of pigmentation that usually comes out through recesive genes (eg. inbreeding or blood-relations far down the family tree)
I'd imagine it can't be THAT hard to find which gene it is that needs altering, though doing the actual altering of it on a mass-scale is a little bizzare.. I'm thinking it may be a combination of a lot of things; the "medication" he was giving the people and something he was giving to the cattle that was being treated..
I'm feeling your norks right now.. |

I wish I had blue eyes. If this technology was available, why didnt my parents get it for me?

I can understand how hormones can increase the rate of twins, but I never remember brazilians being blue eyed or blond haired... from the article: "He claims that Mengele found refuge in the German enclave of Colonias Unidas, Paraguay, and from there, in 1963, began to make regular trips to another predominantly German community just over the border in Brazil – the farming community of Candido Godoi." If the story is actually true... then it seems likely that Mengele simply focused his efforts on increasing the birthrate of the aryans in the community.

All blue-eyed humans have common ancestor
//The mutation of brown eyes to blue represents neither a positive nor a negative mutation. It is one of several mutations such as hair colour, baldness, freckles and beauty spots, which neither increases nor reduces a human’s chance of survival. As Professor Eiberg says, “it simply shows that nature is constantly shuffling the human genome, creating a genetic cocktail of human chromosomes and trying out different changes as it does so.” [ www.scienceblog.com ]

That's pretty fucked up. Perhaps there are other small towns out there used by Nazi scientists to perform genetic experiments...
