yeah, the first few autocorrect fails were kinda funny, but now they're pretty lame. Of course the phone corrects most words to "vagina" or "anal". And of course nobody ever realizes it before pressing the Send button. I'm wondering if all the autocorrect "victims" ignore that you can just turn it off
I'm feeling costa rica!! right now.. |

Because real men don't give a shit if their phone manufacturers stop cramming out OS updates after a year and a half because they'd rather concentrate on newer models. Although it could be a LOT worse, like Blackberry for instance.

The iPhone 3G was released in July 2008 and Apple stopped support for it on March 9 2011. That's almost 3 years. Some Android models get about a year of software updates and that's it. Just saying.

OFFICIAL software updates. Android being Open Source, people have porting fully working versions of the latest Ice Cream Sandwich to the first Android device, and it runs smoothly and flawlessly on hardware COMPLETELY out of date! We're talking 300mhz single-core processors and 128 megs of ram running an OS meant for dual-core and 512ram minimum requirements! Imagine running Windows 7 smoothly on a computer designed for Windows 95. My phone, the Acer Liquid, only officially supports up to Android 2.2, but there's an almost fully functional port of 4.0 currently out, as well as every version that runs on a phone (2.3.4/5/6/7). With different Android builds and custom ROMs, you can have more control over the way a system works. In the same way that Apple stuff "Just works!" but you can't customize shit, Android is based off Linux and if something doesn't work the way you want it to work, you're more than free to change it to something that does work, whether you program the change yourself or ask a dev on a forum to implement a feature for you.

Oh there's no denying the Android platform is a lot more flexible and less restrictive than Apple's and yes, I do agree that it's still possible to load custom ROMs that go beyond the last OS update a manufacturer will release for a particular device.
And regarding the inability to customize Apple's iOS, erm, what about jailbreaking ? Heck, with the jailbreak app Dreamboard, you can even run an Android OS emulator which makes your iPhone looks like HTC's Android platform. My reply was geared towards regular users, whom I speak to on a daily basis, not the power users who know their devices in and out. But I see your point, Fred. Heh.
