CANNABIS BRAIN FEAR
SMOKING cannabis can cause the same sort of brain damage as seen in
schizophrenia sufferers, new research shows.
Images from a scanning technique revealed similar disruption of the
brain's electrical signals.
The findings add to growing evidence that the drug may be a
significant cause of mental illness in youngsters.
It is the first time direct evidence of a link has been found in the
brain. It was uncovered by scientists in New York.
Robin Murray, of the Institute of Psychiatry in London, said: "Users
risk damaging their brains."
