TWO WRONGS, ETC . . .

I'm responding to the letter written by Judith Renaud.

Due to the fact that marijuana is illegal, I understand she feels the
"federal government is committing an outrageous act that defies the
intelligence and human rights of Canadian citizens."

Renaud argues that marijuana is a part of our culture. However,
studies show that only 44 per cent of Canadians have tried pot at
least once in their life. Therefore, more than half of the population
has never smoked pot, which makes it hard to believe marijuana is part
of our Canadian culture.

Renaud also feels that "marijuana prohibition is hypocritical, as both
alcohol and tobacco, despite their health risks, are available to
adults in a regulated, taxed system."

Two wrongs don't make a right. Just because alcohol and tobacco are
legal does not make it OK for marijuana to be as well.
