ALBERTA BORDER OFFICIALS BUST HUGE BONG SHIPMENT

Officers at a southern Alberta border crossing have intercepted a
shipment of marijuana pipes destined for the United States.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers made the seizure after
searching a truck arriving at the border crossing in Sweetgrass,
Mont., on May 18.

The truck contained more than 800 glass pipes used for smoking drugs,
which authorities estimated were worth $265,000 US.

Under U.S. law, products primarily intended for ingesting drugs are
illegal. Canada has similar legislation.

U.S. Homeland Security spokeswoman Lynn Shozda said the truck was
flagged for an inspection when it arrived at the port, but didn't
disclose why border officers wanted to take a closer look.

Shozda also didn't say where the shipment originated, saying the case
is still under investigation.

Sweetgrass is 115 km southeast of Lethbridge.
