The Information Ministry took offence at an article called ``High Society.''

It said in a statement: ``The article adopts a casual approach towards drugs
and gives false assurances that drugtaking is not addictive.''

``The ministry draws the line at publications which encourage the use of
drugs or which argue for drug legislation,'' it said.

Singapore has strict laws against drugs, including execution for trafficking.
It has hanged nearly 290 people since 1975, more than half of them for drug
trafficking.

It practises censorship and imposes restrictions on the media in various
areas to protect what it views as basic values. Magazines such as Playboy,
Penthouse and Cosmopolitan are not allowed in the city state.

Singapore also blocks some pornographic sites on the Internet.
