CITY PONDERS DRUG COURTS
Vancouver City council is studying the idea of separate drug courts as
a possible solution to the city's drug addiction problem. These
specialized courts deal with addicts who run afoul of the law, not
traffickers. The purpose of the drug court system is to get addicts
into court quickly and offer them an alternative -- a long jail
sentence or treatment.
