GROW OP INVADERS PLEAD GUILTY

Two men who took part in the violent home invasion of a house turned
marijuana greenhouse last October have entered guilty pleas.

And a third man, who also participated in the Oct. 12 break-in and beating
of a woman who was house-sitting the grow op, is also expected to plead guilty.

In the early morning hours of Oct. 12, three men broke down the door to a
house at 10000 No. 2 Rd.

Inside, a woman in her late 40s, was sound asleep. That woman, who had been
paid to house-sit, was seriously beaten and suffered a fractured skull,
according to her daughter.

Gregory James Turner, 20, and Jason Kent Porter, 19, both appeared in
Richmond Provincial Court with family members on Monday morning and pled
guilty to robbery.

They will be sentenced at a future date.

The lawyer for 20-year-old Ryan Ray Reeves, who has been in custody since
the incident, also indicated Reeves intends to plead guilty to aggravated
assault.

News that two of the men have pled guilty and the third is expected to
means the victim won't have to testify in court.

All three men had originally been charged with assault causing bodily harm,
sexual assault and break-and-enter.

Turner, Porter and Reeves were captured by police a short distance away
from the home.

An alert neighbour called 911 after hearing someone screaming inside the
house around 4 a.m.

"The lady was screaming at the top of her lungs the whole time," the
neighbour said shortly after the incident.

"I've not heard screaming like that ever."

The October incident was one in a series of violent home invasions
involving marijuana grow operations in Richmond.
