FEST CELEBRATES HEMP

The first Hempola Family Farm Festival is scheduled for Aug. 18 and 19 at
the farm, located at 2133 Forbes Rd. in Dalston, on Highway 93.

You can park at the farm and pick up your wrist band for the weekend ($10
for adults and $5 for seniors and children under 14), organizers noted in a
media statement.

Get settled in with a Hempola High Power Pancake breakfast between 10 a.m.
and noon, then take a hay ride through the hemp fields.

You might entertain your children in the special "hemp chip" circle with
magicians, jugglers, clowns, unique crafts and face-painters.

You can see the progress of the octagon hemp house being built; quench your
thirst in the tent with hemp beer, wine, or a variety of juices; try the
challenging climbing wall; tour the vendor village (at last count, 27
vendors); graze your way through the hemp food tent; or just sit back and
relax with the satisfying sounds of five different bands playing non-stop
all weekend long.

Major sponsors to date include the Hogtown Brewing Company serving hemp
beer, and Domtar supplying its tree-free hemp-based paper.

Proceeds from the event will go to the newly-formed non-profit industry
association, the Ontario Hemp Alliance, as well as amateur athletic groups.

For more information on the family farm festival, contact Greg Herriott at
