Tikal fut l'un des principaux centres culturels de la civilisation maya. Son architecture monumentale a commencé à être construite aux environs du IVe siècle av. J.-C.. La ville connut son apogée pendant la Période Classique Maya, entre les IIIe siècle et IXe siècle après J.C. ; plus aucun monument majeur ne fut édifié par la suite, des palais furent incendiés et la population déclina peu à peu jusqu'à l'abandon total du site vers la fin du Xe siècle. Le nom de "Tikal" signifie "Lieu des Voix", "Lieu des Langues", ou "Lieu des échos" en Maya ; les Mayas de l'Époque classique faisaient référence à la cité sous le nom de Mutal ou Yax Mutal, c'est-à-dire "Paquet Vert", ou peut-être métaphoriquement "Première Prophétie". Les universitaires estiment que la population de la ville a pu monter jusqu'à 100 000, voire 200 000 habitants. Tikal dominait les basse-terres mayas, mais tout en étant constamment en guerre. Les inscriptions font état de nombreuses alliances et conflits avec d'autres Cités-États Mayas, comme Uaxactun, Caracol, Naranjo ou Calakmul. |

Chichén Itzá était probablement le principal centre religieux du Yucatán et reste aujourd’hui l’un des sites archéologiques les plus importants et les plus visités de la région. La présence d'une cité maya à cet endroit est due à la présence de deux puits naturels (cénotes) qui constituaient un trésor inestimable dans cette région dépourvue d'eau. Le site doit d'ailleurs son nom à cette source d'eau souterraine : Chi signifie « bouche » et Chén, « puits ». Itzá est le nom du peuple qui fonda la ville en 534 après J.-C. et l'abandonna un siècle plus tard pour des raisons encore inconnues. À partir du Xe siècle, Chichén Itzá devient alors le centre religieux d'une civilisation Maya-Toltèque florissante et était probablement un lieu d’initiation pour les prêtres qui étaient par la suite envoyés dans le reste du Yucatán.  | Posted by » anima on Tue Mar 14, 2006 @ 12:02am Iguazu Falls (Portuguese: Cataratas do Iguaçu, Spanish: Cataratas del Iguazú IPA [iɣwa'su]) are waterfalls of the Iguaçu River located on the border of the Brazilian state of Paraná (in the Southern Region) and the Argentine province of Misiones, around the coordinates 25°41′S 54°26′W.The waterfall system consists of almost 300 falls, with heights of up to 70 meters, along 2.7 kilometres of the Iguassu River. The Garganta del Diablo ("Devil's Throat"), a U shaped 150 meters wide and 700 meters long cliff, is the most impressive of them all, and marks the border between Argentina and Brazil. Most of the falls are within Argentine territory, but from the Brazilian side (600 meters) a more panoramic view of the Garganta del Diable is obtained. The Falls are shared by the Iguazú National Park (Argentina) and Iguaçu National Park (Brazil). These parks were designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1984 and 1986 respectively. The name Iguassu comes from the Guarani words y (water) and guasu (big). The legend says that a god pretended to marry a beautiful aborigine named Naipú, who fled with her mortal lover in a canoe. In rage, the god sliced the river creating the waterfalls, condemning the lovers to an eternal fall. Near the waterfall, on either side, two main towns are located; Foz do Iguaçu, a major city located in the Brazilian state of Paraná, and Puerto Iguazú, located in the Argentine province of Misiones. Other important tourist attractions near the falls is the Itaipu hydroelectric power plant, and the Jesuit Missions of the Guaranis in Argentina and Brazil. |

His oeuvre spans a variety of forms including performance art, installation art, sculpture, and most significantly, painting. Grey is a member of the Integral Institute. He is also on the board of advisors for the Center for Cognitive Liberty and Ethics.Grey's paintings can be described as an unusual contemporary blend of sacred or visionary art and postmodern art; one term used to describe the artist's work is "transpersonal". His work often depicts aspects of the supernatural world overlayed with aspects of the natural world. Some viewers report that elevated or spiritual states are induced while viewing his images, which might be described as the traditional purpose of sacred art. His work has an eclecticism that often integrates auras, human anatomy, religious icons (sometimes reminiscent of thangkas), geometric shapes and tessellations (sometimes reminiscent of mandalas), in natural, industrial, and multicultural situations. The human figures are sometimes shown nude (usually with partially translucent skin), in sexual situations, or in the act of meditation. This incorporation of the "high" and "low", the sacred and secular, gives Grey's art a postmodern feel. However, the sacred aspect essentially expunges any sense of irony or insincerity often associated with postmodern art (one might cite some people's reactions to the art of Andy Warhol). Il est régulièrement cité parmi les plus grands joueurs de football de tous les temps, sinon le meilleur en concurrence avec le Brésilien Pelé et avec le Portugais Eusébio, ou même le hollandais Johan Cruyff. Maradona débuta sa carrière en Championnat d'Argentine avec le club d'Argentinos Juniors de 1976 à 1981 (Ballon d'or argentin 1978 et Champion du monde Juniors 1978), puis il fut recruté par Boca Juniors où il joua une saison avant d'être repéré par le FC Barcelone. Avec les Blaugrana, il remporta une Coupe du Roi dès sa première année en 1983.
