Well I forget my exact words but thats what I meant at the time.

I have since become friends with many Haitians, and most are actually very PLUR.

I blame the political situation over there

You're right I never have.

So if you have something specific to mention to justify your allegation go ahead and mention it!

Dont hide behind a cheesy Nickelback quote to try to defend Basdini's actions. It makes you look just as bad as Basdini and continues to reinforce the idea that you and others on here are ok with bigotry.

Oh yeah, Basdini BTW, just so you know, you don't need to own a label, produce songs or go on tour to be a great dj, none of those things actually have any relevance whatsoever to the actual artform.

You really just have to be a great dj to be a great dj its that simple :)

But since you ask yes I have made a few tracks back in the day (which also makes me a producer haha! not that I really care, I never wanted to be a "producer", its pretty boring and unrelated to djing).

And yes I've played all over Canada, played in the US, played in Europe, played in Isreal and played in Africa.

Happy now! Hahaha....

I doubt you say "Whats up fag!" when you meet him. The same way I doubt you use the "n" word when you talk to your black friends who use it all the time with each other

You cant justify homophobia unfortunately, you can only speak out against it

I agree, you know its funny because I was actually talking to a few of my lesbian friends the other day and one of them mentioned how homophobic this site is, specifically mentionning Basdini

Its a real disgrace this place is seen as a place of bigotry, especially after all the LGBT community has contributed to building club culture.

Its a shame because most ravers I know arent bigots and I feel Basdini is putting a black eye on the whole rave community with his actions

A public apology is definitely in order

I'm actually one of the only local breaks dj who plays original funk soul breaks from the 70s so you have no idea of what you're talking about. BTW anyone who actually comes and hears me knows I am probably one of the most VERSATILE djs in this city. I literally play everything

And for your info I just finished playing for a room full of babes tonight and they all loved my set.

You probably do lol...most of your friends are djs, even though you consider them to be mere "vinyl slingers" who should put up with your drunken behavior. Dont think people have forgotten your bashing of the dj artform over the years.

Interestingly enough you're also friends with many djs who do it for all the wrong reasons (Fame, drug dealing, following fashion and screwing people over)

I do have a problem with the motivations some may have for becoming one, as stated by our resident superstar wanker:

Why would anyone even give a shit if you had a problem with it or not?

Your whole life consists of complaining. Its not like you're anyone special or a connaisseur, you're just some dude who showed up about a decade ago, bought a few beers and harrasses people at events

In my circles we refer to guys like you as "douchebags".

You're drunk out of your mind most of the time, I dont think you'd be able to tell the difference between a good dj and a bad one lol...

---------------------------------------

Personally I'll continue to do what I LOVE for all the RIGHT REASONS (love of music, making people happy) and obviously I'll continue to get paid for it which is completely normal and the right thing to do, continue to meet girls who enjoy what I do and I'll continue to stay ETHICAL and above all avoid doing cocaine which most djs in this city seem to endulge in.

So my advice to upcoming djs, always stay true to yourself and do it for the right reasons not the wrong ones and when you encounter an asshole like Masa, which does happen, just ignore him, and if he gets testy, just have him thrown out by security. They are there for that afterall ;)

yeah like you would know. You've played a total of 3 gigs in your life, thats one more than Paris Hilton

For your information, you do meet a lot of girls, do get offered TONS of drugs for free, never pay to go anywhere, always end up on the guestlist, and yes if you're so inclined you can get your airfare paid for to go somewhere exotic if you feel like it.

Djing is hard work yes, but it does have its perks ;)

That time and involvment meant that the wannabees probably stopped doing it before they could do any real damage. But nowadays, you can basically play out the same day as you buy your new Traktor set up and still have decent enough mixes to fool untrained ears.

Yeah I agree on that one as well.

Experience makes a big difference. It takes years to actually LEARN about different styles of music, where they came from, how they evolved.

I think that makes all the difference. You put a 20 year old dubstep dj with a year of experience with all the latest dubstep tunes in front of a regular crowd of rockers and hip hoppers and they're lost.

You put a seasoned dj whose had over lets say at least 10 years experience rocking all types of crowds, he'll pull it off.

At the end of the day the mere act of beatmatching is not what make you a great dj (although many still wrongly believe it is the case), it is as you say what you select and how you programme it.

Lol...You have a point there buddy

One of the things I realized earlier on and ultimately ensures that I get at least one gig a week somewhere is versatility. I play a really wide range of good music instead of focusing on one particular style.

& Thank god for that, I can't imagine being stuck in Montreal's dnb scene, which is primarily populated by male djs and their welfare sidekicks (no offense to anyone ;)

Lol...Basdini maybe if you can actually find me a dj thats been playing consistently every week for the past 16 years then MAYBE, and only maybe then will I consider your opinion ;)

Alex is actually a really tight dj who dosent play around, definitely one of the BEST dnb djs in Montreal if not the best (with the exception of Jordan and RCola) and I've actually been around long enough to make that statement.

He dosent get booked a lot for many of the same reasons I do, pure politics, nothing to do with skills.
