The plateau is said to have alot of junkies and apparently people regularely find discarded needles. Its unfortunate what our society's become, littered with filth. You'd think people would at least have the curtosy to shoot up in privacy.

alot of people would shoot up in the park near Montreal High. It was horrible. I used to spend my breaks watching the dogs play in the park and after awhile there were so many needles that dogs couldn't play in the park anymore :(
Fuckin junkies

You wanna take the risk? Aids isn't the only problem to worry about.

When I was a C.I.T (councelor in training) at a summer camp, we went to the park across from the tams and three of the kids came up to me saying "look at what we found!!" showing me a used needle.

I was soo scared.

yeah that stuff is fucking terrible... But I guesse there are some junkies who don't care if little children find their needles and hurt themselves...

i like how everyone blames the junkies and not the lack of social programs out there to a) help ppl quit or b) help ppl shoot safely.

Yes, junkies are COMPLETELY not responsible for leaving their needles lying around where people can get hurt, they're just missunderstood.

I'll bet hitler was missunderstood as well.

right, and the system isnt to blame at all? im not trying to argue that its not the users responsibility either, but we cant keep imagining all our societal ills as individual problems.

Well, when the problem is CAUSED by individuals, then those individuals are the ones responsible and should be ready to take on all consequences asociated with their irresponsibility.

If I have a gun, it goes off by accident, and shoots you, is that society's fault? Should I get off scott-free because it was "society's mistake" to let me have access to a gun?

no, but i would question as to what your motivations to buy a gun were, and why there wasnt gun laws in place, or why there wasnt effect social programs to control the factors that lead you to get a gun in the first place.

so, in other words, i question why drug addicts turn to drugs in the first place, why they continue to use, what social programs are out there to help them and so forth.

not to go on a huge economic rant here, but imo, the system fails us. whats even worse is that it forces us to go up against one another. everything is seen as a individual problem, homelessness, drug abuse, etc ... when really, we should look at what mechanisms are in power that enable these problems to reproduce themselves.
