...this is my sob story:

i found out recently that one of the bebe cats in my 2 cats litter has lukemia. so i was worried and inquired.

i didnt get test results but theres a 85% chance that bebe and bailey have it.

which will cuit their life expectancy in 2.

all this cos the owner of the mother never got her cat shots. and didnt fix her. so when the mother was in heat, she just let her out.

unvaccined. not immune to disease. out unprotected.

all this cos she didnt have the money to fix her and wanted her to shut up.

i didnt know any of this til later on.

now the mother is staying with me while this girl moves, but i didnt know of all this before i accepted to babysit. shes been here for 3 weeks, the mother cat and the sister. so if they have lukemia, its too late theyve been together too long already and will have probobly been infected.

all this to say is that im enraged that people dont take precautions to prevent such things from happening.

if you have a cat, please take the right steps towards prevention.

and if you dont have the money, please dont assume responsibility.

these cats are like my children and i am devastated.

all i have is hope to hold on to for the next 2 days, but chances are next to nothing.

heart-broken in MTL

We had a scare about 5 months ago with feline AIDS. There was a cat my cats would fight who had contracted the virus. There was about 5 % chance our cats would be free of the virus...and luck on our side, the cats were never infected. So chelsea i say this to you, no matter how slim the chances are, there is always hope.

i got two kitties from the vets once
he hadn't tested them, for anything, hadn't inquired after the health of the mother cat whose litter was dropped off at his office.

so i get these cats, love them like i've never loved anything in my life and one of them died of feline aids, the other of leukemia.

and like you said, it could have been prevented.

if your kittens still seem healthy though there's still a chance that they'll be ok. still a chance for the tests to be negative. i hope so because seeing a kitten become more and more sick, especially when you love them like you seem to is just so wrong.
