sggestions: get a new soundcard, and look at evolutions cheap controllers, they are good, and you can get a second hand cs2x for 300$ probably if you look.

get a cheap midi controller at archambault for like 100$. you dont need the knobs if you use cubase sx. you can automatize all the effects anyways

not as fun programming knob movements as it is turning knobs yourself

I recommend the Knobby controller by Encore Electronics
It's available at Technopolis (metro Laurier) for $220 +tax

Great little cunt, 8 knobs with 120 possible programs. Runs with virtually everything. Encore's SysEx library is still growing.

If you have a very low budget yeah those cheap controllers like evo's, phatboy or whatever was suggested are not bad. If you can afford to tip in more money, I recommand the Tascam us-428. It s a usb-plugges soundcard and a midi controller at the same time at it works great. In my opinion,it's the best "beginner" investement i made.

it s something like 800$ new, but remember it s a good sundcard at the same time, and it s very interesting for live performances: no need to get a soundcard for the laptop for instance.

However, if you really want to have full control of your sequencer, the best in my opinion is the Mackie control. We re talking 1600$ yes but once you re used to it, you can t go back. For instance, it has motorized fader, which is a must have if you want to do your mixing with it.
