This is probably not the best place to ask, but does anyone know of any good welding schools that offer programs which don't cost 10,000$? I know they are out there. I've heard of people paying 300-1000$ for the same DEP that you would get when you pay 10,000.

Thanks in advanced. :)

it's been 6 years i haven't lived in quebec but around 12 years ago they were excellent programs under gov. subventions in excellent public schools and through private companies as well... i'm pretty sure same policies and programs still exist. that can help you because you can get paid to actually study and learn in some case highly demanded DEP type of skills.

you should meet with a counselor at an emploi-quebec office near your house. they are actually very nice and if you are serious and have somewhat a desire to succeed and complete a programs they are really helpful.

for example: i have a friend who finished her high school diploma after being a teenage drop out. she finished in 2 years as well as following a cinema/music lightening/grip program receiving 1000/month to do so it's not a lot but she was working too. and then she went on to do a BAC and more etc etc

i have an other friend who went on to have a career at bombardier after completing a dep who has to do with building satellite or components..etc.. and he was receiving money for that each month and had the education for free.

an other one completed a plumber program and now he is his own boss and earn more than 60 000/y.

and of course these programs change over the years because they are the answer to demanded jobs at that market time.

anyway a lot of blabla but it was to show you to dig in gov. programs.. they are there in quebec and too often people aren't aware and miss opportunities.

Yeah I took my d.e.p. At EMCM and it was entirely paid for by employ Quebec. The hitch tho is that you have to be on unemployment to be eligible. The welding program is I believe 1200 hours. To pay it on your own it's actually not that expensive, but you have to be willing to be a full time student 7:45 - 3:30 every day
