Crt Noise - For Electronic Fans

Coolness: 108870	I was hearing a small buzzing sound, I first thought my speaker connector wasn't properly inserted then could have been my amplifier so turned off my (computer) speakers but the small noise continued so I pinpointed it to the top of my CRT monitor. After consulting [ newsgroups.derkeiler.com ] I switched to the smallest resolution at 85Hz then switched to 56Hz with no, or very little, change in the noise between both refresh rate. My main concern is if it can eventually explode or catch fire. Considering how thick the front of the tube is, I doubt it could break sending shrapnel in my eyes... or could it?

Coolness: 685655	I dunno about exploding or catching fire, but my old 15" that I had since.. some time around 1995 I think.. started making this really high-pitch squeal whenever it was set to anything lower than 1024x768.. After a while it ended up having trouble turning on.. using it as a monitor for my server now and any time I turn it on I need to power it on and off a good 10-15 times before it works properly.. sometimes it'll power up but it will fade into a huge black spot in the middle.. I think at the very least it's time to get a new monitor, this one might not have all that much life left in it.

	I'm feeling like a drama magnet right now..

Unless there's a real risk of explosion or fire, I'll stick with it unless I can find a 2048×1536 (3.1Mp) for under 40$ around Montreal (I found one about 100km away but I don't have a trailer for my scooter) as its 2.3Mp.
