Forward started in the summer of 2008 as platform to promote underground electronic music, filling the absence of a weekly rendez-vous for the alternative club scene. Originally thought out to be a hosting ground for drum’n’bass, jungle, breaks and dubstep, Forward grew and evolved into a night made to showcase a wide array of genres and scenes working with a variety of different crews and artists such as Loetech, Sixtoo, DZ, Datsik, Spor and Plastician, to name a few.

Dubstep remains a central focus but Forward is also about bringing people of different musical backgrounds together to open their minds to different styles. By inviting over 75 different guest djs on the span of the last year, Forward gets people to enjoy and discover new artists.

Forward is

David Rawalia aka Wally, a dj who has been mastering his craft since 2003 and more recently producing his own unique sounds. After promoting rave culture and sound and organizing a multitude of one-off all-nighters, he moved on to the dubstep scene taking full-part in the forward weekly as well as participating in other events such as soma and bassdrive.

Forward music is also Rhys Taylor but he will be in Mexico for three weeks while we freeze our asses in Monreal... Dialect will be replacing him because Forward loves dialect.

w/ local support from

Ghostbeard
(ninja tune)

Previously known as W.I.G, The Notorious W.I.G, and various other monikers throughout the years, 2007 saw the latest and hopefully last rebranding of one Jeff Waye into the man called Ghostbeard (despite basing a name around facial hair guaranteeing he can no longer shave... he has no regrets...)

By day Jeff is one of the owners/label manager of Ninja Tune Records and oversees it’s North American operations, although his DJ career started well before taking on that role 13 years ago...

Having started out way back in the early 90’s Montreal rave days, he was one of the go-to DJ’s for the “2nd room”. After a year or so of trying to compete with the room bleed from the main room on sub-par after-thought sound-systems, heady ambient records gave way to hip-hop/jazz/funk and the ol’ jungle records played on 33 trip out.

Taking over the Ninja Tune helm in 1996 offered him various spots with lots of visiting artists, and the Ninja Tune aesthetic of playing a wide range of eclectic music through a set started to influence things more and more through the years. These days however, ever since adopting the Ghostbeard moniker, Jeff really just wants to play reggae, dancehall, jungle, dub-step, and all things ragga-related... Sure he’s got other jams on hand and will swing that way if need be, but it’s rare he has to... Having dealt with a wide range of classic reggae and dub labels at previous distribution jobs, been a buyer for some of the first jungle labels out of the UK, held down a reggae/dub night residency, and setting his credit card on fire every week with on-line dancehall 7” purchases, his collection runs deep and nerdy...but most importantly dancefloor rocking.

“how can snowman bring the fire” you ask? Come out, watch it blaze, and see for yourself...
