once i get booked for a CEGEP party at saphir. the girl asked me to play hardcore on the phone 2 weeks before the party. once i get there and i started playing and people came at me to ask Jean Leloup, Beck, Sublime ect obviously i had nothing of that kind of stuff with me. so after 10 minutes ( or 15 ) the other guy from "la vie étudiante" run at me with the money and begged me to just leave the place. shortest (payed) gig ever. |

I swear I would have been happy if they'd just paid me to fuck off It was excruciating, the last hour there was like 10 people left, I kept on trying to make them leave by playing the hardest, wierdest shit I could find and they would just stand around the dj booth booth all fucking wasted trying to look through my cds saying stuff like "Ehhh...je suis trop veille pour cette nouvelle musique, t'as pas du led zeppelin criss, on est une gang qui aime rocker estie" |

Apparently, it was for a birthday party for one guy. The girl who booked me told me that I would be playing Salsa and stuff like this and when I told her I didn't have any, she told me she would bring up Salsa CDs. The very same day, she announces me in panic that she doesn't have CDs and she let me play whatever I want. When I enter the place, I play in front of a small group of what....20 people? With other people not related to the party eating at other tables. The girl comes to me and say "I HAVE THE CDS!!!!". So basically, I played 2 hours of music I don't know shit about. Within this 2 hours, I played only 1 track of really low tempo (120) tribal house I had in my CDs (thinking it would actually fit with the whole salsa genre) and 5 guys came to me meanwhile to say :"PLEASE!!! WE WANT SALSA!". The last hour pretty much everyone left so I decided to play in my genre. At the end of the party, the barman and the other guys eating in the restaurant came up to me asking me who I was. |
