Im gonna say hipsters. In my positive column, I got hippies throw free-tek parties and tend to be really good psy and downtempo djs. In my negitive column I got hippies only like to share things that dont belong to them. So hippies do the thing that pisses me off most about either group and also do the thing i liek most about either group. Hipsters tend to be around a lot more though. At the 7-11, the couchetard, at the mod club (and i pass it everyday), loitering around college, etc. hippies tend to hang out in kengsington market and other places I dont know about or frequent. So...hipsters piss me off more with their presence on a day to day basis. |

The veggie-nazi peta-loving hippies rank up there with the worst of 'em. Tied for first place though, is not only hipsters, but college frat-boys as well. These two groups represent just about the fucking worst, bottom-of-the-barrel society has. Those Halo-playing, kegger-throwing douches look and act about as fucking retarded as the hipsters' wardrobe. |

Both to me are sources of coma-inducing vacuous conversations showcasing their materialistic . You're at this awesome loft party sipping beer when you're forced to wonder how you wound up in a conversation about how the universe in one giant purple squid and each colored tentacle represents all living beings contained within the squid and how one tentacle is black and shriveled because of how man doesn't listen to Gaia's needs. Then, in an effort to try and stop thinking about hanging yourself in the bathroom with your belt, you grab a cocktail wiener, gulp it down and the conversation takes a horrible turn as you end up in an extra 45 minutes of veggan brainwashing and propaganda about how meat is sooooo bad for you and the only reason we eat it is because of mental conditioning imposed on man since the dawn of time. Nope, according to them it has nothing to do with nature and other mammals eating meat, "because we are slaves to the meat, man, you know ?" Note : I'll admit, hippies win hands down for originality as NONE of them have the same conversation as opposed to hipsters which spew out the same regurgitated bullshit about how grand they are. Regardless, I equally can't hold a conversation with both. Sorry. >: ) |

I still have quite a few friends who are working there, decent people who were nonetheless rather hip, and I mainly got along with them because they were well informed on music, so we'd have pretty damn good music to listen to in the kitchen.
I found that the chef is just going with simple cuisine, not necessarily pushing the health envelope so much as running a really poorly organized fast food restaurant posturing as fine dining. I know it may seem strange that I of all people would work at a vegan place but I did, and it was really disappointing to see that the menu was mostly made up of sandwiches and salads, and very few decent and filling entrées. But a good deal of that problem was because the customers there are just coming in to eat the same ol' crap whenever they drop in. If you were to live off this place as a vegan, you would quickly run into nutritional deficiencies. The only way to really make those up is with a smoothie, but none of them have b12 or anything of that sort. Basically the place was better when it was a co-op, but back then it was all hippie and no hipster and they were honestly too lazy to handle high volume. |
