 Coolness: 93595 | My awesome roommates decided to move out for September 1st, and notified the landlord on August 15th. THey had obviously been looking for a while and didnt think of telling me; its funny cuz I called them on August 6th ish right before I left for Shambhala, and was like "So, we're still ok, right? Im gonna have a place when I getg back?" and they were like "yeah of course." The only reason I even called to ask is cuz I got a wierd vibe from one of them. I then went to Europe after shambhala, and they knew I was going. Anyways, they waited for my September rent cheque to cash and then emailed me on August 23rd that I had to move my shit out by the first of september. I didnt get the email until the 31st of August. To show their compassionate side, they offered to move my stuff into their new place for the token fee of 350$.
I am now homeless and out 1400$ - September's rent and Last Months Rent (February). Im living at my ex-roommates new place. Theyre not answering their emails and theyve removed me as friends on facebook. School has started. Im taking 125% of a full course load, have to contend with recruitment, and had already lined up a parttime job before this incident to pay off the europe bills. Note to self...paying for europe by maxing out mastercard left you with no room for unforseen events such as aweosme roommates. Also of note...British Airways lost my bags again. When they asked where I wanted them delivered I had to say "I dunno, I dont have an address." Embarassing. After they demanded an address, I gave them the landlords' shop address, and was like "They're only there btwn 9am and 5pm, so you have to deliver it between those hours and Ill make arrangements with them to pick it up with them" to which he replied "If you want your bags, you will accept them at whatever time we deliver them. " When I explained to him that I was homeless, and the landlord would be doing me a favor to even accept the bags he was like "Do you want ur bags? Cuz it doesnt sound like you do. Tell the landlord to wait for them." Fucking British Airways. They are the rudest fucking assholes on the planet. But yeah, shambhala was sick: Excision, E-wun and Spore on saturday was fucking insane. And Fort Knox Five played hard breaks; nom nom nom. Malente was also pretty good. And Benga was amazing. Aahahahah...man, on sunday night theyre was this hippie kid high on acid in the fractal forest and he was dancing naked. He was so fucking happy...he had that shit grin on his face, and his wang was just flying everywhere. Fucking so funny. lol ahahha. Anyways, the way I see it, Im due for some good karma. ying-yang. Good things are coming mah way. |

 Coolness: 685690 | Well, that fucking blows. I had something similar happen to me about 5 years ago, but it was my mother.. I knew they were looking for a house to buy, but they hadn't told me that they'd bought one and that they were moving and that our apt. was already taken by someone else..
I found out 2 weeks before, and only because one night I came home and to not make too much noise I went to my room with my shoes on, so the next day they thought I wasn't home when they got into an argument about something involving work that needed to be done on the house before they move in.. | Coolness: 93595 | I was subletting from the leaseholder. So my cheques were made out to my roommate, not the landlord. The roommate cashed the cheque, and kept the money. The landlord got no money for september, thus i cant live there in september.
I dunno...I couldnt afford to rent on my own, and no one I knew was interested in signing a 6 month lease. I graduate in December, so after that wont be able to afford rent unless I get a job. Given the economic climate, having a job upon graduation seems unlikely, and Im not the kind of person to sign a 12 month lease unless Im reasonably certain Ill be able to afford rent for all 12 months. Wutever...its a fucked up situation. Im not completely innocent on this one either; I obviously made some stupid mistakes and overlooked some issues such as having an agreement for a 6 month sublet duration instead of signing a 6 month subletting lease. All I can do now is learn from it. Thats life I guess :P |

I did that myself, because of past sketchy roomies , who did a something simular. they all left and left me with the only person left in as lease for an entire house |

I moved into a 2 bedroom highrise apartment with a friend - who turned out to be a total dirtbag. dude is a spoiled rotten rich kid. so as soon as the money his dad gave him ran out, he packed up while I was away and moved back home - leaving me and my mom who co-signed the lease legally responsible for the $6000.00 rent owing for the rest of the year. so I just marched downtown to the office of the President of the real estate company that owned the building, and asked to talk to him. I just told him the truth - that my ex-roommate was a spoiled, lying little psychopath who had completely fucked me over... *thank God*, he took mercy on me and let me out of the lease, without paying a penny. what a cool guy! point being - sketchy devious roommates need to rot in Hell. |

| Coolness: 48830 | I was in bc, and my 4 roomies movied out leaving me and the bf to pay for the 4 bedroom hours. which was 2600 moth plus utilities, i ended up being creative and convicng some toronto friends to move down which helped a bit then i talked my landlord in having her daughter move in but i was left with having to pay there share of the last gas and hydro bill, and i never got the money back
they wernt sorryy, they didnt see anything wrong. there like " we are hippies free to travel as we please withouth consequense" ya i didnt enjoy the victoria bc locals after that |
