I'm not sure if this happened to anyone else but my hydro bill halved since last year. It might be because I'm using the 13/23 watt light bulbs instead of the 60/100 watt ones. Has anyone else noticed a huge decrease in their hydro bill... I'm going to replace the other light bulbs I have with the new ones also. They sell them at maddison/addison for like 3$ each. With a savings like this I think everyone should switch also.

2008-06-27 - 2008-09-02 = 106.78$
2009-09-03 - 2008-11-03 = 97.32$
2008-11-04 - 2009-01-06 = 103.72$
2009-01-07 - 2009-03-04 = 83.44$
2009-03-05 - 2009-05-07 = 100.45$
2009-05-08 - 2009-07-02 = 91.51$
-----------------------------------
2009-07-03 - 2009-09-03 = 54.13$

Did you stop using TV or replace with a LCD ?...
Because that much for simple lights is nonsense, except if you stay light on all the 24/h day...

open 24h/day 365days/year

1 light = 100watt is about ~90$/year
1 Old tv bewteen 27-37" = ~250watt ~225$/year
1 AC (small ~4-5000BTU) = ~450watt ~400$/year

And the price is the canadian average, not the Quebec one's
So in Qc it's a bit cheaper

The US average is about 35-40% higher (depend on exchange rate)

No clue why... I didn't change any of my habits besides these new light bulbs... I don't have an AC... I'm going to replace all the other light bulbs in the apartment this weekend and see what happens for the next bill. I do think it's a good savings to have those new 23 watt -> 100 watt light bulbs... Your 90$/year will become 20$/year if your lights are on all the time... That * 11 lights comes out to a huge savings...
I'm feeling nuclear right now..

You'r right, the 90$/year depend directly on the amount of watt you used.
If you used all 23watt versus the 100 one, it's easy 23/100 of the price...

Then your small bulb will used only ~20$ that's the fact
So maybe you got too much light bulbs in your apparment(house), so that's showing easier the difference of electricity used between both kind of lights

-----

By the way, my girlfriend remember me this, [ lcn.canoe.ca ]

It can be another reason but probably not if your bill are made in accordance to your real usage

from what ive heard HDTV will use more energy if you dont use the economic mode! because of all the different process it does to your movie (scaling, antialiasing etc)

Hey.

Maybe....MAYBE Hydro's doing like they did lately, you know, like your bill is low because their billing systems don't calculate properly and you'll receive a 700$ bill to compensate for this, like the bastards pulled off recently ?
I'm feeling "flynn lives" right now..

If you read ANY reviews of the energy used by a tv, you will be able to saw they compare versus the regular model used:
Most of owner got a 27-32"
When they buy an HD model they get a 42-46"

So if you compare to same size, all the HDTV including the cheapest one will used less energy

I told the same thing about the LCN (TVA) news, HydroQuebec does some errors but all the errors shown as been for the people who received regular bills.
The plan they give each month the same amount, not like the bill shown Nuclear.
The one he shown, it's look like, real usage bills.

Yak... fader one's....
I never got any Compact fluorescent for the fader because it was to expensive, 45$ for 2 pieces (23w)
The problem on those small bulbs is they'r like neon, they need a constant voltage

So I never re-install my fader anymore since I got all those small bulbs

Some Home Depot, BMR, Costco, Uniprix and Pharmaprix

For any places who sold the regular one, you can ask for those

They won't all keep in stock, but they can do special order for you, about 1 week delay

Some like that = [ www.acehardwareoutlet.com ] [ www.amazon.com ]
