Post 'em here. I need sets to dl. I think I might have finally come around to dnb. Dnb is a lot like red wine.
I'm feeling a message in a bottl right now..

Dieselboy - The Dungeonmaster's Guide is pretty much one of the best starting points you can get.. It's got some stuff that's hard, but not too hard, and an overall fairly trancy sound.. One of the best DnB mixes ever!

Andy C is often said to be the best in DnB, and while his mixing may be awesome, I personally don't find his track selection to be all that interesting (he's also usually got an MC with him that just never, ever, EVER shuts the fuck up, so you can't hear most of the tunes that he plays)

The Pendulum 1Extra mix from.. I think it was 2005... is really worth getting.. It's just as their first album was coming out, and just a little while before they turned into a shitty emo 'n bass band..

It's too bad Galaksy doesn't have any mixes hosted up, because he's also one of the best DnB djs ever!

a couple of mixes of mine that you might like, nothing toooo hard (well, Nice and Nasty is about 50/50, but the 'hard' part isn't too over-the-top brutal like, say, my Welcome to the Doom Room mix)

for Pendulum it's not the 1Extra mix, it's the Essential mix from 2005
I'm feeling like a drama magnet right now..

that's a tricky question

in terms of accomplishment and respect, nobody can fuck with the original crew from England. they shaped the music from breakbeat hardcore -> jungle -> D&B. they're in a class on their own

Grooverider, Fabio, LTJ Bukem, Bailey, Bizzy B, Tango & Ratty, Kenny Ken, Andy C, Mickey Finn, Remarc, Darren Jay, DJ Hype, DJ SS, DJ Bailey, Kemistry and Storm (RIP Kemistry)

then the guys who were producing since the early 90s, and became DJs later on.. such as Goldie, Ed Rush & Optical, Shy FX, Potential Bad Boy, Dillinja

but aside from them, there are many styles of jungle/D&B and a slew of really talented DJs for each. there are DJs who made their name playing for the underground, DJs who made their name playing for the masses, or some DJs who can play for both. deciding who is the best is a matter of personal taste

some names I rate...

RAW (aka 6Blocc), CRS, Capital J, Oscar Da Grouch, DJ Dara, Dieselboy, Breakage, Equinox, 0=0, Medicine Muffin, Mystical Influence, Sniper, Marcus... Toronto has some of the best DJs out there, for any style of jungle/D&B

IMO, for a DJ to be considered one of the greatest, they gotta have deep knowledge of the music - new and old, and be able to flip different styles, depending on what crowd they are playing for

* can't forget Rumbleton, Gremlinz, DIWA & Mutt

** I don't get out much for new D&B, but I gotta say - Plan C and Bass-ic... their set at 4 Walls of Sound killed it. great tracks and really tight mixing

Words can't describe how I miss Chappelle.

As for Screwhead : +9000 for the Dungeon Master's Guide. I still regularly listen to that downright insane mix.

hmmm what other DJs?

Doc Scott - another pioneer DJ and producer.

I really like DJ Phantasy .. back in the day his sets were off the hook. if you like dark hardcore jungle this set is dope. with Goldie in Toronto in 92 when Goldie was brand new.

and here's an old LTJ Bukem live set from when he was at the top of his game. atmospheric D&B. yayaya I know it ain't new D&B but it's one of my favourite sets ever. and he definitely is one of the very best D&B DJs in the world. MC Conrad is on point too

Rohan Bassbin and Naptha are really good DJs too - out of Dublin. on the dubbed out tip. stuff like this ->

Breakage played a fucking amazing set in Toronto in 2005 but I can't find it online. I'll have to get a copy and upload it. seriously one of the best live sets I've heard. the next time they bring him back to Toronto you should definitely check him

a shit load of names I am forgetting and lots I don't even know about. but you should check some of the ones I mentioned

anyway Gamos since you live in Toronto, you're in a great place for jungle/D&B. there's always big DJs coming to play there and a lot of really good local DJs too, representing lots of different styles. no shortage of nights to check out if you wanna see what it's all about
