So I was on my bank website, and it turns out they are introducing this new program called "Simply Save." The way this program works is that everytime you use your debt card, they deposit a fixed amount between 50 cents and 5 dollars into your saving account from your chequing account (you choose this amount when you sign up). Their bonus offer is this: 10% of whatever you end up transfering from the chequing to savings account. So if you choose 5$, every time you make a purchase or withdraw money, they give you 50 cents.

This is fucking retarded on their behalf, but an easy way to get free money. Just follow the following steps:

1) Sign up for this program. Set the amount to 5$
2) Spend normally
3) At the end of every month, simply transfer everything they have transfered from the savings account back to your chequing account

For example: I use my interact card about 1ce per day. Thats 365x per year. So TD is going to give me a free amount of (365 x 5 x .1) = 182.5$ per year.

lol - wut a bunch of chumps.
I'm feeling so long dental plan right now..

I'm feeling epic right now..

having just finished working for that bank for over the last 2 years, i highly doubt your exploitation will work
they wouldn't be doing this if it wasn't profitable and a ploy for you to use their services not to mention getting more customers to jump aboard with them.

most savings accounts have transfer fees so when you transfer something you get charged (unless you pay a monthly fee between 5-12$/ month for either a certain amount of transactions or unlimited)

don't jump at this "opportunity" blindly, think about it first. a bank is bank and they are NOT your friend nor do they hand out "free" money, they profit off your money and give very little back (unless you have like 10 bazillion dollars in the bank)

FINE PRINT ALERT

1You must be 19 years of age or older to participate in the Simply Save bonus offer. The bonus offer is limited to one per person and one per joint chequing account. The $10 bonus will be deposited to the savings account 6-8 weeks after each $100 in savings is reached. We reserve the right to amend, extend or withdraw this offer at any time without notice. Savings (except for bonus payments) deposited to your TFSA will impact your annual TFSA contribution limit and are up to you to monitor.

Esta + screwhead; they give you 10 percent of what ever gets transfered. So if you make 100 purchases at subway, 500 dollars gets transfered from one account to another and the bank gives you 50 FREE DOLLARS!!!!!

I'm telling u; theyre a bunch of chumps that made a mistake. I dunno why its so hard to believe that banks can make mistakes...but hey, if u wanna leave perfectly good money on the table, be my guest

i don' get how making a purchase transfers money..

you mean it transfers $ from your account into Subway's account??

that's still isn't necessarily a transfer from checquings to savings..

imo, if the whole thing is too complicated, it's 'cause they made it so that they win.

plus, if i understand the concept correctly (as much as i can) it seems as though they wat you t oput money into a savings account.. there's got to be a catch there.

either way, i'm sure it benefits them more than it benefits you. but if you have a handle on this, and it makes you money, good for you gamos, keep it up :)
I'm feeling you up right now..

man, whether or not this does actually work, you guys cant read LOL...

u make a transaction with your debit card, and 5 OTHER dollars from your account, goes into a savings account. the thing that makes this profitable, is that the bank adds on an extra 10% to that 5$, so really, it would deposit 5.50$ into your savings, equaling 50 cents profit...

all that makes sence to me, its the fine print that i would be cautious about. like Wizdumb mentioned, if taking money out of your savings account, has a hefty service charge, u might not be making anything at all in the end etc...

the concept is kinda cool, but its just not for me.

again, i'm tired, so correct me if i'm wrong, maybe it's me who's not reading correctly...
I'm feeling like ezbake right now..

look, all i'm saying is even though it might be a beneficial program, do you notice it's still targeted at a demographic of people with money to spend? so even then, through various fees, they more than make their fare share of profit off you.
i dunno about you, but how many do you know do over 2,000$ (to get the max 200$) in transactions? and since it doesn't count when you're in overdraft (no money = no $) and the fact of the matter is even if you did have this money will you in 6-8 weeks when they cough up the the money? i'm not too sure, because believe it or not most accounts i saw were very paycheck to paycheck customers and sure yes, there were people with people with mad money, but they were not the norm.

i guess if you have 2 accounts with unlimited transactions and some money, you could technically transfer some funds indefinitely and maybe it could work. maybe. but i'm also sketched out by the fine print

i was billed 300% interest on a school lown (1k) that wasnt even what i needed for my course in the first place (19K)

thoses fuckers in banks will give the money (complete lown & "bourse" ) to immigrants , if your a citizen you can forget it unless you dont need it (ie you already have 50K) .

so banks/dejardins are fucking skam

There's probably a transaction fee, and how much do you pay to make a transaction using your debit card? Think of it this way, if it costs you .55$ cents to make a transaction using your debit card they still are making .05$ on you every time you make a transaction.

Fuck the banks, go cash.
I'm feeling wtf charles? right now..
