 Coolness: 282450 | I don't know if any of you have heard this womans story, but It's so disheartening.
I watched an HBO special on her called "Ganja Queen" and I suggest you all do too... People in Bali are cruel animalistic barbarians..I can't believe places like this exist. They should bulldoze those fucks off the planet..she faced the death penalty and sits in filthy disease infested jail cell for nothing.. Schapelle Leigh Corby (born 10 July 1977) is an Australian woman convicted and imprisoned in Indonesia for drug smuggling. Corby is serving a 20-year sentence (for which she has received approximately five months in remissions) for the importation of 4.2 kg (9.3 lb) of cannabis into Bali, Indonesia. She was convicted and sentenced in Bali on 27 May 2005 by the Denpasar (Indonesia) District Court and currently serves her sentence in Kerobokan Prison, Bali. On appeal, her conviction and sentence were confirmed with finality by the Indonesian Supreme Court. No further legal manoeuvres on her part are possible; she may petition for clemency from Indonesia's president, but would have to admit guilt to do so. Corby has maintained from the time of her arrest that the drugs were planted in her boogie board bag and that she did not know about them. Her trial and conviction were a major focus of attention for the Australian media. Her due release date, with remissions, is currently 12 April 2024. In June 2008, the Nine Network in Australia broadcast a two-part documentary called Schapelle Corby: The Hidden Truth. Lock your fucking luggage, don't let anyone mess with them without supervision, and be extra carefull when going to places like Indonesia, Philippines, Cuba and the such where smuggling happens frequently ... That's if she really is innocent. Otherwise, let's just hope she's got relatives who can now enjoy the cash she's made smuggling until she got caught. |

If she didn't and they were planted then i wish her all the luck in the world and wish her the best and pray for her... |

the judges on verdict day, they're a corrupt government...she was handed a sentence that isn't hers. |

You know places like that are fueled by corruption. You take precautions or you fucking stay out of the country. Some guy I know here in the Phils was a victim of entrapment about 2 years ago. Cops ambushed him as he got out of his workplace, cornered him and ordered to search his car. The guy told them to fuck off, that they had no right to search his car considering he wasn't even in his car yet and that they had no cause. One of the cops pulled a gun to his face. Then out of nowhere they pulled a huge bag of weed out of his trunk, beat the guy and arrested him, asking for a bribe or they'd leave him there to rot. Shit happens I guess. Guy's uncle was a high ranked military. Tracked down the cops and executed them. I guess what I'm saying is .... you want to play safe, you stay out of conflict and/or poverty areas. Too often stupid people go to those countries just to fucking flaunt their cash and then wonder why the fuck they get mugged, entrapped or kidnapped. TSA approved locks can be opened by security personnel using a specific combination/key sets but also have a tamper seal that will show when they have been opened in this way. The only way to open them without trace is by using the lock combination which should be unknown to any airport personnel. Someone tampers with your luggage, you can prove that it was searched by the security staff at the checkpoints between the gates and the time you pick up your luggage upon arrival at your destination, and that anything smuggled inside of it was done without your knowledge or consent. |

A lot of photographers do that so that their gear doesn't get stolen.. It's a starter gun, so it's not a weapon that requires a license, but it's real/realistic enough that when your lugage is checked and they're informed of what you have, it's put in a special/seperate area and is even transported in a seperate, locked compartment of the plane.. Doing that in combination with the TSA locks pretty much guarantees you're safe. |

Typical case of entrapment to push a cause forward... Really fucking sucks for the girl and I sincerely feel sorry for her. Still doesn't change the fact that she'd have been safe if she had given it some thoughts prior and taken precautions as stated above. |

Yep, that's about it ... but the ones involved have probably fled the country shortly after with pockets full of money and couldn't really care less about tourism in Bali now. That, plus the fact that most of the tourists that do travel to Bali and similar places are going there to flaunt their money on the beaches without doing any proper trip preparation or research, resulting in getting fucked over and then whining about it... |
