someone told me the other day about Iznogood setting a Guiness record for DJing non-stop.

got this off his myspace...

"In the summer of 2000, Charles under the name Iznogood was set on creating the first ever Guiness record for longuest dj set, playing 56 hours non stop while helping raise money for a drug rehabilitation organization. "

56 hours ?????

that is fucking insane!!

the new record is even crazier:

"DJ Gee Papa spun in Cyprus for a record-breaking 116 hours"
I'm feeling you up right now..

I'm a little skeptical on that.. For one, the only two references that I find to that are his myspace page and some references on [ rave.ca ]

The other is from Indica's profile, that mentions:

Matrix Thursday night turned into Restart Night with Indica & DJ Iznogood
(the dj that broke a record in the guiness world record Book for playing 38 hours at a
rave-party (without drugs !!!)

All I'm finding are self-promotion pages with that, not a single other "confirmation" like frome a news site or a message board or anything..
I'm feeling your norks right now..

holy shit. that's close to 5 days straight!

you're right Screwhead - hard to believe

I found this link, but who knows...

apparently the previous record was some Mexican DJ who went for 88 hours

yup. there is some controversy about the Guiness rules of 'accumulated break time' (which allowed him to sleep for 2 hours at some point) but still, that's crazy.

some other dude claims to hold the original, and i guess unofficial, record of 226 hours, form the late '80s.

i checked up a bit on the matter, i've considered making an attempt :P

yeah, the record was successively shattered, from 70something hours, then 80something, the the new one. one of the people who tried ended up in the hospital after about 93 hours, no sleep.
I'm feeling you up right now..

I'd have to have a pretty strong motivation to stay up for 5 days..

it's one thing when people stay up for days partying, but staying up for days to meet deadlines is brutal

in university, I stayed up from early Tuesday morning until Thursday evening, non-stop studying and writing 3 final exams - one of which was worth 100%, cuz I missed the first 2 tests. Neuroscience and some other heavy psych courses.

I was only drinking tea and coffee to keep me up

by the end of it I was starting to get little hallucinations out of the corner of my eye from lack of sleep

wow, i'm so old i actually have information on this...

back in 2000, the rave was called Arrival 4. It was one of those 3-day bad boys...

I found the old [ rave.ca ] calendar link: [ www.rave.ca ]

i actually played at this party, alongside jack beetz (jacky murdah) and this other guy namai (i think that's how you spell it). At the time, we were known as Chopstick (after jack's cutting room), it's actually misspelled on the flyer, lol.

You can even see that Iznogood is listed separately as playing a 'very special set' and i can indeed confirm that he had his own smaller tent, and was trying to set that world record. I'm unaware if he ever actually did it, but i saw him spinning over the course of the weekend.

Coincidentally, the flyer that's there is only the 'pre-flyer' the full one was a massive fold-out thing that showed Rabbit In The Moon as the main headliner, as well as Bad Company as the dnb headliner. As a matter of fact, alongside the Chopstick crew I had the privilege of opening for BC, and it was an amazing night. I remember it well, it was D-Bridge and Maldini, I got to smoke a joint with them and they tore it up. I also vaguely remember some story about them not getting paid and getting escorted out of the festival or something...my memory isn't what it once was.... ;)
I'm feeling like getting drunk right now..

I'm less impressed by the djing part since I'm sure his mixing was trash, but I'm way more impressed he managed to stay standing in the same spot for 3 days.. His back must have been bent really bad.

Ok I remember this because my roomate was best friends with the Arrival guys at the time

From what I remember Iznogood did actually do the set to qualify for the guiness book of records

The controversy was every contestant had to be tested for drugs. From what I understand he had taken a toke of a joint or someone was smoking weed in the tent or something during his set and he ended up testing positive.
I'm feeling like the good guy right now..

pretty much...
i never quite made it over the fence...
after 2 hours of rolling around in the dirt ducking flashlight beams.
i ended up getting caught by security all cuddled up in a bush with lee.
then security took us on an atv ride and we resorted to plan b and pulled some bracelet scam for the win.
peggy was with us too and she got all cut up on the fence and went to security saying that some boys came out of the woods and stabbed her for her bracelet.
so they rushed her to first aid and hooked up vip passes for the crew.
it was nothing short epic.
but ghetto to say the least.

I was at this party, remember it quite well actually, BC were sick, rabbit in the moon were a no show (some ones father died, mighta been bunnys?) Iz played the whole time and in the end, had to be taken to the hospital because his feet were all cut up. Before he embarked on his record chasing set, he bought some new shoes and they were not broken in yet.

Ufot-oh the good times
I'm feeling haxin an milkin all right now..
