I give all genres of music a chance. Thus I am open minded you fucking morons. Just cause I'm picky with what I like to listen to doesn't mean I'm not open minded. Too many times I've seen this:

"Hi, I don't like "

"OMG! YOU SOOOOOO AREN'T OPEN MINDED!"

Like

are you people FUCKING STUPID? If they guy doesn't like it, it means he's listened to it enough for him to NOT LIKE IT. In otherwords, he was open minded enough to give it a chance, and it failed to excite him in any way.

So next time one of you morons decides to call someone close minded because they don't like a particular genre of music, please go throw yourself infront of a moving metro.

Thank you...

v0idnull: yeah people say that to me all the time..

They don't understand that I listen to a lot of different genres, have made many genres, have been listening to electronic music for a long time...

I don't like happyhardcore because most of it sounds fucking aweful to me, but that's just me. Generally I find it almost incomprehensible how anyone could listen to it without shooting themself but I stopped trying to think about it and just accepted that people have different tastes.

I dont like tech-trance because I find it really dull and it doesn't move or speak to me in the way that other music has. Some of it is good though but generally it doesn't captivate me in any way.

In some genres I'm sort of split like progressive house... some of it is really boring to me the same way tech-trance is, other songs are absolutely incredible, like james holden's stuff.

Hell I accept that some people don't like my own stuff too (although I know with some people it's more a personal grudge towards me than a true opinion.. but that's ok).

I'm sorry I'm so vocal about shit sometimes!

sometimes people dont mean open minded when they say, "you need to open your mind".. drugs open the mind in ways we can even begin to understand.

drugs leave long term effects.. hehe.. im not trying to say that its only good stoned either..

okay, i dont like trance cause it has really simple patters and sounds too "goodygoody".and i hate those damn buildups that last forever.
House is house, umm, sounds good sometimes like after a bum and stuff..

HHC is like the SKA of techno, too joyfull and not dark enough for me. It doesnt really create an ambiance that suites me.

Hardcore is just noise, sometimes sounding good, sometimes they take it too far. Nice basslines most of the time, but i hate the way most songs arent consistant.

DnB + breaks: hard, deep shit. This stuff is great, creating nice atmospheres. It just straight up sounds delisious. Great track consistensy and evolutions..

Techtrance : You cant get more hypnotic than this stuff. The type of stuff i live and die for. Makes my ears very happy. Great sound quality, production, and techno sounds at there best, layered in ways that just make minds trip.

I could go on like this for hours.. but i'll stop hear.. im hungry

one thing I must say I hate though: people who lump all of house together as one distinct genre.

I'm sorry but you can't compare progressive house and deep house and disco house ect.. on the same level they are totally different.

being open minded means you understand that other people like other things, and it means not insulting their choices.

saying "oh i hate hip hop, i think it sucks" is not being open minded.. remaining silent on the matter unless someone asks, and explaining why you dislike it is different.

it's all about respecting those who have different tastes..

" If they guy doesn't like it, it means he's listened to it enough for him to NOT LIKE IT. In otherwords, he was open minded enough to give it a chance, and it failed to excite him in any way."

many people judge far too quickly. i'm always skeptical of someone who dismisses an entire genre because way too often such a judgement is based on insufficient knowledge... it's something akin to someone disregarding all of electronic music because of the MC Mario mixes he hears on the radio. you can't expect the best music of a certain genre to just fall into your lap.. and there really are interesting things happening in pretty much all genres of e-music.

i can't even begin to tell you how many times i have heard people say they dislike or even hate house music. oftentimes they simply don't understand it and even more often they don't even really know what house music is. unforutnately they are narrow and confused, as are most people that judge and dismiss categorically

stating that you hate something, even stating that it sucks(a statement which obviously comes with the unspoken words "in my opinion") is NOT closeminded. Saying that you don't want to even listen to it,give it a chance...THAT'S closeminded.

-celine dion sucks
-smoking sucks
-dropping into 30 ft metal halfpipe with 2ft of vert on a $10 board without pads on and skinning yourself SUCKS
-mustard sucks
-paying $6 for an itty bitty cup of regular coffee because you're on the top of a mountain sucks
-pay toilets in euro train stations suck
-cocaine sucks
-getting chased off army fields kinda sucks (kind of a thrill)
-being a mover sucks
-hhc sucks
-fighting sucks(ya,even when you win)
-my old college philo teacher SUCKS BIG DIRTY DONKEY BALLS
-dog biscuts are dry, crunchy and they suck

These are all statements i can make because:
a)i've gone through/tried them
b)it's my personal opinion

I can't say that eating bugs sucks because i've never tried. I can however state that eating shit sucks because i can judge the taste by the smell and am intelligent enough not learn the hard way.

Having never listened to Indonesian Underground Banjo Beats...i can't say that sucks or not.

When offering my opinion to someone else i usually say "i think_______sucks but it depends if you like that sorta thing. Do you like (something closely related)? It's kinda like that, but you should check it out yourself"

Being closeminded has nothing to do with if or if not you like something, it's about your willingness to try new things. Once you try it you can speak your mind.

if i said i hated rap... its doesnt make me closed minded..
it means ive listened to rap enough to form an opinion on it... if you asked me why i could tell you why too...

but if i said i hated something, it wouldnt make me closed minded

i think that people who say that they like everything aren't necessarily open-minded, but that they are too scared to voice an opinion because they don't want to offend anyone.
