Scientology On Trial For Fraud In France

The Church of Scientology in France will be tried in court for "organised fraud", according to legal sources. The lawyer for one of the plaintiffs behind the case told the BBC that if convicted the controversial Church could be banned. The Church has faced stiff opposition in France as well as Germany, where it has been declared unconstitutional. The French branch of the Church of Scientology said it had been cleared of "numerous" similar charges. It said such charges should not be brought to court again. This case stems from claims by a woman who said she was approached by Scientologists in a Paris street in 1998 and offered a free personality test. She says she ended up handing over more than 20,000 euros (£16,000) for courses, books, illegally prescribed drugs and an "electrometer" supposed to measure fluctuations in her mental state. Olivier Morice, a lawyer for the woman and for one other plaintiff in the case, says the case could be brought before the court by the end of the year or in early 2009. 'Commercial operation' Scientology was founded in the United States in the 1950s by science-fiction writer L Ron Hubbard. It has attracted stars such as Tom Cruise, John Travolta and the late Isaac Hayes. But it been accused in some countries of cult-like practices and exploiting its followers financially. Scientologists reject this and say that they promote a religion based on the understanding of the human spirit. France refuses to recognise Scientology as a religion, categorising it as a purely commercial operation and keeping it under surveillance. In Germany last year, federal and state interior ministers declared the Church of Scientology unconstitutional, and in France in 2000 a government committee recommended dissolving the Church. However, in October a Spanish court ruled that the Church of Scientology of Spain should be re-entered into the country's register of officially recognised religions. |

I doubt that the church prescribed illegle drugs 2 this lady,because one of the strong points of the church is clearly is an arch-ennemy of the pharmaceutical illuminatie. Tom cruise went public against this evil,scientologists fight against modern psychiatry and there abuse of ritalin..ect. It is probably just some greedy lawyer trying to make a better case. most scientologists never use any drugs whats so ever,even anti-biotics and encourage parents not to have there chikdren take medical shots. Scientologists started a non-profit organisation called narconon helping drug addicts and family cope and better the situation. There are many herborists and naturopath's in da church. The E-METER is a tool used by an auditor to help someone. The auditted holds 2 cans who are plugged into the e-meter while the auditor asks questions to his "patient" analysing his reaction helping him recreate some disturbing moments that haunt his spirit and are in the sub-conscious level. The auditors goal is to clear and recreate the moment so that the trauma no longer affects him or her!!!Û FLUCTUATIONS WTF !! STUPID EVIL LAWYERS And by the way SCREWHEAD ther has been numerous lawsuits against scientologie! The science is ther to help you,but if you won't help yourself it won't work!!!! I'm willing to give you a couple of scientology books so you can understand more clearly! and as Fat boy slim says drop the hate!!! OR FUCKIN ATTACK THE OPUS DEI FOR CHRISTS SAKE!!~! |

I agree at this point it's hypocritical not to judge christianity the same. I mean scientologists might even have a one up on them for not killing, raping and enslaving everyone. I don't think anyone who decides to scavenge shamelessly for wealth is selfless enough to be a spiritual leader. Even so "Christianity" and "Scientology" are not people, organizations or financial bodies. Banning an organization is one thing, a religious belief something else completely. I'm sure banning a religion outright wouldn't blow over in those countries but banning the actual organization "The Church of Scientology" is different. |
