The thing with dream interpretation is that all of those books that tell you "dreaming about this means that" are absolute bullshit.

Dreams are your subconcious working. Your subconcious is 100% unique to you, because it's based off of what you've been through, your memories, how you think and react to things, your personal morals, beliefs, etc etc.. So unless someone's been implanted with your memories, your dreams are unique to you and you can't really use a book to interpret them. Those "dream books" are like horoscopes; they're so incredibly vague that what they say can apply to anything.

Hell, I've discovered that when I eat salsa within at least 4 hours of going to sleep, I get extremely vivid dreams, and they're usually about the WEIRDEST shit, usually influenced by what I was doing last before going to bed.. Dreams don't necesarily have to mean anything. You'd be amazed at how many ravewavers show up in zombie-apocalypse situations, simply because I was watching a zombie movie on one monitor, surfing ravewave on my 2nd monitor, and eating nachos with salsa, right before going to bed.

Yeah, but we do share commonalities, or similar experiences in our dreams, for example: running away from someone at a really slow pace, teeth falling out, being naked in front of all your friends, etc...

I guess you can say that any of these events can be interpreted differently because we relate to these dreams in our own way. I dunno, when I get these typical sort of dream, I can easily identify what I'm going through emotionally, based on what some of these dream dictionaries describe.

running away from someone really slow happens for the same reason you can't usually get into a propper fistfight in dreams; if you'd get your adrenaline up and start fighting, your body could react to what your doing while you're sleeping, and you could hurt yourself or others.. Same with the running slow, it's a defense mechanism to make sure you don't fall out of bed or hurt yourself while dreaming.

Some people (like me) have this wonderful thing called Sleep Paralysis that happens on occasion.. When you're asleep, your brain essentially "locks" your body as much as possible, and you suffer from a mild paralysis.. In some people, the mechanism doesn't work properly, hence sleepwalking, and tossing and turning happens when you're near being awake and your brain isn't sure how much controll your body should have back durring the dream you're having..

But in some people, the mechanism doesn't always shut off when you wake up, especially if it's a sudden waking from a nightmare.. Imagine, you're in the middle of a nightmare, and you wake up, but the part of your brain that's responsible for the sleep paralysis and the dreaming doesn't shut off when you're concious.. So you're wide awake, but completely paralyzed and can't move, make a noise, scream, etc.. AND, you're still having your nightmare..

I found out about it being called sleep paralysis when I looked up what the most common manifestation of evil in your nightmares are when you have these dreams; an evil woman of some kind, usually very old.. She's usually standing just above you, and it feels like she's trying to rip your soul out.. some people see other things, like aliens (a lot of alien abduction stories are probably just cases of people with overactive imaginations suffering from sleep paralysis) or demons.. It's where the original incubus/succubus myths came from..

Part of it is definitley a physical effect, but there's a subconcious part that happens also, and while it's similar in a lot of people, it's still not going to be the same in everyone..

So i guess if you have sleep paralysis and and keep on dreaming while conscious, means you are in a waking dream?

yeah, except that usually, sleep paralysis occurs in a nightmare, so it's really a waking nightmare.
