| Nintendo did the same thing in the 80's, with the 10NES encryption chip, they ruled for a while but by the 90's there were tons of competitors. The same thing will happen with the ipod, as soon as someone manages to make a more attractive product with a 'cool' factor (from what I have seen, nobody has done that yet).
I was never a huge fan of the ipods, I had a mini for a while until I dropped it and it busted (my own fault). The computers are great though. If they tried this on their computers I would ditch them in a second though. |

| people will just buy mp3 players made by other companies, even if the governments of all the industrialized countries all got together and banned production of so called 'open' mp3 players somebody somewhere in the world would produce them, then what, you re gonna have police stopping people to check their digital music players, not gonna happen.
i have had the same apple shuffle for 2 1/2 years, i got to be honest, i probobly wont ever buy another apple mp3 player (i have this one because someone gave me it as a birth day present). I just fucking hate itunes, such crap. |

| I really think the mp3 player culture is quite dangerous regardless of what system you use. All this kids are going be deaf at the age of 40 if they continue to listen to music at such a high level. That is one of the reasons I never replaced my player and try not to use headphones much anymore. |
