I've got it :P

It's really not all that good imo.. It's pretty much just a pseudo-intelectual questioning of reality and perception.. Imagine the whole Matrix "Is this reality or just another layer of the matrix?" type of "philosophical" story with cyborgs fighting robots.. It's nowhere near as good as the first one.

I see a somewhat well seeded DVDR-DL version on tha pirate bay, and a .mkv version on torrentspy (I'm guessing japanese w/ eng subs).

... Damn, I really should get around to GITS:SAC 1 and 2, I think I have both series gathering digital dust on my HD :)

well the DVD I've got(official release of it) is japanese with english subs, I don't think they even got around to dubbing it..

The only thing that's "good" about it is seeing what they did for the animation; it really does look amazing at times.. But for the most part, the story absolutely sucks balls, and you're really not missing anything by not seeing it.

heh it's only really worth the watch to say "yeah, I sat through it because I loved the first and wanted to see how cool this one looked", the story is really a pretentious attempt at psuedo-philosophy disguised as a movie about androids and robots.

I'm guessing you've seen Death Note? Best anime I've seen in, well, many many many years.

If you want to go for some classic stuff (and have like 35 gigs free) you can always get all of Ranma 1/2. There's also Tenchi Muyo that's always been a favorite of mine..

There's one that I started watching a while ago and stopped, and now I don't remember where I left off (I think there's something like 70 episodes) that's called Monster.. I'm not 100% certain where/how the story was going, but from what I can remember (about 30 episodes in) it was about a super-genius doctor that one day saves the life of a young boy instead of a politician like he was told to, and then his career goes downhill; he doesn't get the promotion he was supposed to, his wife leaves him, and eventually he gets framed for a murder and goes on the run from the cops and in search of the boy who's life he'd saved like 10 or 15 years earlier, because this kid may or may not be the antichrist (or something just about as evil).. It's not really an action-packed anime, it kind of has a feel like The Littlest Hobo with the occasional bit of action/violence and a story about human experimentation and an exploration of morals..

That happened to me when I watched Eraserhead.

Every once in a while, I close my eyes and all I can see are those two black, beady eyes staring at me, and I hear that baby cry, and I know I am in hell.

I've seen the anime and I think the first episode or two of the serries.. Totally amazing, but it felt way too short for a DVD that was on sale at 40$ 8 years ago..

This website has all of Monster streaming: [ www.crunchyroll.com ]

you gotta sign up, it's free, and once you do, here's a link to the page with all the Monster episodes: [ www.crunchyroll.com ]

here's the synopsis from the site (which is probably way better than my trying to remember what it was all about)

Dr. Tenma is a Japanese man working in Germany. He has it all, incredible medical skill, a great job, a beautiful fiancee. He becomes disillusioned with the hospital politics though, when one day he's ordered to forgo operating on a critically injured man in favor of someone who was more famous. After this point, he decides he will do what he thinks is right, regardless of politics.

One day, a young boy and his younger sister were brought in. The boy had a bullet in his head, an operation that the doctor knows only he is capable of completing successfully. But soon after a politician was brought to the hospital and the high ups in the hospital want Dr. Tenma to leave the boy to operate on the politician. Dr. Tenma decides that he'll do what's right and save the young boy's life.

The young boy's operation was a success, but the surgeons operating on the politician fail, prompting his life to fall apart. Dr. Tenma is passed over for a promotion and his fiancee becomes cold to him and eventually leaves him.

But soon after, strange murders begin to occur, ones that benefit Dr. Tenma greatly and though he becomes the #1 suspect, they have no evidence against him. But it seems that the boy whose life he saved has a hand in things, and that he is much more than he seems...
