| Coolness: 685710 | well, compared to Fragile and With Teeth, Year Zero is a step in the right direction. I understand that one can't stay drugged-up and angsty and depressed all the time, but The Fragile was just NOT the followup to Downward Spiral that it should have been. The Fragile sounds like Trent got his balls cut off and turned into a whiny little girl.
I mean, granted, Pretty Hate Machine was essentialy the same material as The Fragile (an album full of "omg me and my GF just broke up"), but it was a new and diffrent sound. And The Fragile tour even sounded like shit, that was the WORST sounding concert I've ever been to hands down. There was no energy, no agression, they seemed bored up on stage, even when doing their old material (on top of the shittiest sound engineering job ever, I've heard garage jams with better sound) I would have probably enjoyed The Fragile more if it was a single album, not a double, and if there had been less whiny piano/acoustic bits. And With Teeth was just a failed attempt at getting back to the "hard" sound, but staying friendly and accesible enough to try and get radio play.. I know it would be near impossible for him to go back to that Broken/Downward Spiral sound, and I guess it goes like Metallica; after a certain amount of time, your music just ends up becoming a pale immitation of what it used to be. Hell, even the new Marilyn Manson album had one good song and the rest was crappy emo garbage. |

| Coolness: 685710 | yeah, If I Was Your Vampire is the only decent song on it. I heard that and had amazing expectations, and then I heard the rest of the album. It's the first (and only) Marilyn Manson I haven't bought, and I don't plan on ever buying. And minus a couple of recent singles, I've got EVERYTHING (down to some of the early demos, a recording of the Portrait of an American Family Launch party, the pre-Trent album, I've even got some Mrs. Scabtree lying around somewhere..) |

| Coolness: 685710 | Then how come Golden Age of the Grotesque came out so amazing? The biggest diffrence between those 2 is that Madona Wayne Gacy is out of the band now.. Twiggy being back is a good thing for sure, I just hope they can somehow re-channel something like Antichrist Superstar.. |
