Other Book Stores In Montreal Other Than Chapters/indigo/coles?

 Coolness: 102740 | I have been ordering all my books online from Amazon or Chapters/Indigo. But i can't shop at Chapters anymore because i can't support them, i spent maybe like 1 000$ on books just there last year. See the following link: [ opirg-carleton.org ]

Anyhow back on track, I need to pick up a gift, a book for a co-workers gift exchange that is taking place tonight. I found out that the original gift that i got, the person that i picked won't necessarily like it. I wouldn't mind keeping it for me. So i might get him a book, or i should just be a bastard and give the gift he might or not might like? Does anyone know any book stores in Montreal other than Indigo, Chapters, World’s Biggest Bookstore, SmithBooks, Coles, The Book Company or Indigospirit? Erm, I can't think of any book stores right now, but I know there are lots of them in Mile-End/Plateau. Maybe you could go in a book store there, and ask for the right one? |

 Coolness: 62925 | For all things sci-fi and horror, there's a great bookstore close to where Nebula Books used to be, although I forget the name. They carry mostly comics but also the books left over from Nebula. It's on Ste-Catherine between Guy and Atwater stations, on the south side of the street. Support independant bookstores! |

however, because it's a gift maybe that's not such a fantastic idea. in the faubourg there is this fabulously random somewhat make shift book store, they don't have new new releases but they do have a hearty collection of books, varying genres, authors and subjects. As well, all their books are very moderately priced. It's on the bottom west floor of the faubourg, your best bet is to enter the faubourg from of st. Mathieu and st. catherines.. thanks guys but i ain't going out there in the snow. This whole gift exchange was my idea too. I found a solution, i got a book from my collection, the books i haven't read yet. So it is fresh and new and exactly what he wants. the Scar by China Miéville ( brilliant author ) [ www.sfreviews.net ] + he gets a small Appleton rhum 375ml. good enough. |

 Coolness: 201200 | Actually Trey, I went to the foundations website and it is a scholarship for university for people from abroad who voluntarily enlist in the IDF.
It's not uncommon for people who enlist in the military to get scholarships and the like, and I think anyone who has the balls to go there should get something out of it. Update » nothingnopenope wrote on Thu Dec 20, 2007 @ 3:06am A couple of valid critisms about the store though:
1) They pulled Mein Kampf off the shelves, which is a historically important work 2) They pulled an issue of Harpers because it had a Mohammed cartoon in it (then again it would have given "angry youths" an excuse to burn their stores down. |

a 25$ annual Indigo card get you extra % off on certain items. Since you get a large amount off the cover price online anyway... the card % is trivial, anything from 0.10$-1.00$ Basically [ Amazon.ca ] is cheaper in price, but if you have the Indigo card, you will get a lower price but usually it is only 25 cents to not even 1.50$. However... I bought last year from Indigo/Chapter alone 900.00$ and the total savings i did was 50.00$. So you need to spend 450$ just to make your money back. Obviously i didn't renew my card. |
