Yeah but the new war on terror law overwrites any existing laws.

Except of course U.N laws which still apply to them and which they don't abide.

That's funny, I doubt many of the real terrorists drank alcohol at all, at least if they follow their religion.

no law can overwrite the constitution, it is by definition the 'highest law in the land', it is from the constitution that all other laws gain legitimacy and validity, anything that can be said to go against the constitution is what's called 'ultra vires' or litterally beyond the reach of the constitution [ en.wikipedia.org ] and thus has no force in law.

sofia mentioned the UN, this is where it gets much more complicated, and i don't really want to get into it...

You haven't been keeping tabs on things that are going on in the US, then, have you? The government has power to do what it wants now, completely ignoring the constitution, because it's at "risk of national security" from "terrorist threats" all the time.

i wont try to say that the constitution in the united states isn't in tatters, perhaps hanging by a thread...but it still exists. Even if the wire tap and torture scandals happened, we are still outraged and recognize them as illegal practices. the administration was forced by the supreme court in 2004 to put to trial the people guantanamo, if only in military courts, it's still a victory considering that the administration would probably have liked to be able to hold the detainees indefinitely.

real patriots defend the constitution.

the US government should be tarred and feathered and thrown out of town for taking a tragedy and turning it into an excuse to remove the rights of the American people...

Their image is so tarnished that people are taking the sides of the terrorists now instead of the USA. They fucked up so bad.

Seulement 100% des terrorists do 9/11, et presque tous les bombing dans les centre urbain (sauve le bombing de Oklahoma).

It's not religion that causes it it's fanatics.

I really don't think that 9/11 could be an inside job. The American government is not competent enough to pull something like that off. It was incompetence that allowed it to happen in the first place.
