Without explaining why you think your answer is right. Just answer this math question:
1 / 0 = ______ . Noah claims he asked random people and half of them got it wrong. I just wanna see how many there are out there that have it wrong as well.

Yeah most people are too stupid to understand what division itself is. When you're dividing a number, say, 6/3, you're asking "how many 3s can I put into 6", of which the answer is 2.
So, 1 divided by 0 is like saying "How much nothing can I put into something?" If I have a glass, I can put an infinite amount of imaginary things in it, and the glass will never fill up. It won't get a single thing in it. Therefore, 1/0 = ∞ Update » Screwhead wrote on Fri Mar 2, 2007 @ 10:11am YAY for RW not showing up the standard ALT codes!

if i was a math teacher i would exept 2 answers....
1 and "cannot divide by zero" anything else would get a big red x... if they argued with me... i'd send them to see the guidance councilor.

I actually had a math teacher in high school that insisted (i fought with him about it) that anything divided by zero was zero since it said so in the book.

it's undefined :\
or in most real situations, 1 bean would fit into a bag of dimension 0, 0 times

That would be dividing zero by one. One bean would fit into a bag of zero dimension zero times, but if you've got an actual bag (or cup, or bucket), you can fill it with objects of zero dimension infinitley.

1/0=infinity, therefore infinity*0=1?
I think not. | |

No, because X*0=0
If you multiply nothing an in infinite amount of times (0*X), you are going to get nothing, just like if you don't multiply an infinite amount of numbers (X*0), you obviously aren't going to get any results.

That's why you use X like screwhead said, and the I think not means that I don't think thats right, X*0=0
therefore in my unedubacated opinion, it is not infinity Update » aLxzRed wrote on Fri Mar 2, 2007 @ 3:54pm and 1 doesn't work either 1/0=1 so 1*0=1? that's the thing about math, if it doesn't work both ways it doesn't work
