Looking To Buy Used Decks. Help!!

 Coolness: 44015 | Hey, I'm really hoping someone can help me, there seems to be a lot of djs on here...
So I finally have enough money to buy tables, mixer, needles, etc. and of course want all of it right now. The problem is I don't think its worth it at this point to go buy techs or at least not new ones. I don't know a whole lot of djs here in montreal, but if anyone is selling used decks, I would love to take them off of your hands. I was hoping for something like numark tt500s, or something of equal torque, durability, interchangable tone arms, etc. *crosses fingers*. I suppose thats really hoping, I'm not sure why someone would sell working 500s, but maybe one of you has given up on vinyl. I just want something precise enough that when I train wreck, its my fault, not the table going off pitch. A motor that responds would be nice too. Anyways, any advice/help would be greatly appreciated, even a reliable website that ships to Canada. I neeeeeeeeed to play with my vinyl. If you can help me, you will be my favourite person forever. =) Thanks in advance. |

 Coolness: 685575 | You can usually find used techs for 500$, it's pretty much standard price for them. The only decks you should consider other than techs are the Vestax PDX-2000, and at that only if you really want to get into scratching. If you get used to anything other than techs, it's gonna be learning to spin all over again whenever you play out, trust me. Even if you get a higher-torque deck like the vestax, adjusting back to techs is gonna be a pain. |

| Coolness: 44015 | I'm not saying that I don't want to buy techs...and if I can used ones for $500 than I will definitely buy them. I know they are the standard and the most likely to hold their value. Apparently everyone thinks I shouldn't settle for less, okay, okay I'll fucking hold out!!!! I just need something soon, I don't have friends here where I can go spin at their houses, all my friends are science/engineering kids, its pretty sad.
$2500?? honestly? That's why I'm not buying new techs, I'm not prepared to invest that much yet. I was hoping about half of that...I'm still in school and need to eat. Mind you speed is cheaper than food. I have needles already and I was thinking of buying a vestax mixer, I've never really liked stanton tables, but maybe their mixers are better. However, I am still no closer to tables.... |

 Coolness: 87560 | Of course, having technics turntables is much more fun to use, but mixing at home on very shitty turntables has its good sides also. If you can mix tight on a crappy setup, you can mix tight on anything. I myself have very bad turntables at home and I always find it easier when I mix out. G'Obrien, one of the tightest DJs I know, has super old-school turntables at home with no pitch sliders, only a little pitch wheel on the side of the table. :) |

brand new ones are a rip off... i'd scout out e-bay... a pair should set you back about 700-1000$ depending how slick you are and what extra's they come with (ie. needles,slip mats, flight cases, headshells and cartridges) reggies deal is pretty solid... i bought a 1200 off him before and i couldn't be happier with it... came with a new headshell, cartridge and a brand new flight case and everything was in mint condition. fuck... now i want a third deck!! |
