You will not find animal protien (which contains all the essential amino acids) in protien rich alternatives like beans.

You will not find the same calcium content in calcium rich alternatives that you do in dairy products.

Veganism goes against the natural evolution of the human species. Humans are omnivores. Their ancestors were omnivores and even the earliest primates are omnivores.

Your cost of living will increase significantly during the winter season when vegetables and meat alternatives become out of season and thus become pricey.

You will not be able to eat most grain products as they are made with eggs, butter and/or milk. This includes bread.

You will not be able to eat many foreign fruits or vegetables or grains as the harvesting process generally includes animals for transportation or harvesting.

---

In the non-dietary section of this thread:

You will not be able to use the most effective method for fighting an oil spill: chicken feathers.

You will not be able to wear suits since they are made with wool.

You must abstain from all leather products, including shoes, headphones, jackets, bracelets, ect...

Because alternatives are not as filling as the real thing, you will have to eat more to get what you need. The higher consumption rate will result in larger farms being created, thus more forests destroyed, more displaced animals and other wildlife.

voidnull.....i suggest you read "Mad Cowboy" by Howard F. Lyman for more information....you'll learn about the true nature of cattle farming and the effect it has on the environment...

....as for diet.....wow...read up....there's many ways to get all the essentials while still eating healthy....

....i'm not vegan, just a lowly vegetarian :) and i'm not a hardcore "you are evil cause you have a leather strap on your belt" one at that..

I think people should eat whatever makes them feel healthy....but you should find out what goes into your [ ..ca ] you say "drugged up fecal matter"..mmmmmmmmmm!

vegans are fine by me... just dont push it on me..
oh yeah and i heard a vegetarian guyat a restaurant say that vegetarians live longer than meat eaters... you know what i told him? "See this steak I'm eating? IT was a vegetarian... it's not living any longer than me!"

...i don't like vegan pushers either....just like to offer info so people can see alternatives and decide for themselves....i've definately seen vegans who are not healthy...looked like walking death....but if you do it right you can be uber-healthy...

Best response to the question "so...What DO you eat" from a vegan...:

"Dust, rocks, Chalk, you know, the regualr, bark scrapes, whatever you can find"

watching the person sit there and believe this was even better, untill the light clicked on

official "big mac is healthy" theory:

well see eating healthy is all about balanced diet right?? well with a big mac you got the meat, thats protein and stuff, then you got all the lettuce and pickles, thats vegetables so thats gotta be healthy shit, then there's the chesse, thats the the dairy requirement, then the bun is grains of course..so big mac is gotta be healthy

haha for a second even i beleived myself

For the mercury in sushi (and ALL fish thanks to our poluted waters) to be a health hazard, you have to eat roughly 20lbs of fish/sushi a day non stop for close to 75 years. THEN you get enough of a mercury buildup.

think of it more as time going by

take the % of mercury in fish in 1970, 1980,1990,2000... and compare the data... the rising % and then figure out.. im sure that if the mercury level now stays consistent then in 75 years so forth so forth... but if the mercury level is rising then its a different story

get my drif?

yeah, but I don't think we're close to the boint where we'll either: Eat a fish and die, or, eat even CLOSE to 20 lbs a day of fish every single day. I mean, not being racist, but look at asians, where sushi comes from. They're damn well some of the healthiest people on the planet. (They're also people who eat meat and who consistently live to be way older than a good 95% of us easterners will)

cattle farming does take a toll on the enviroment, but that was besides the point

as for essentials, you can SURVIVE on essentials, but you do need more than that. And the fact is, there is ABSOLUTELY NO NATURAL ALTERNATIVE TO MEAT PROTIEN.

And as for ambear, YOU CAN NOT BE HEALTHY AND BE A VEGAN AT THE SAME TIME BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO ABSTAIN FROM ALMOST ALL FOOD PRODUCTS.
