Selling a Nord Rack 2, great condition and comes with original manual. I picked it up 2 months ago from Rogue Music in NYC and am selling it because I don't have the time to get into this great machine. $650.

heh sorry, didn't think the NR2 would need any explanation. ;)

It's basically the Nord Lead 2 in rack version (not the 2X and not the Electro). Here's the link at Clavia's site:

Click the left frame for specs, etc. Do a search in Google for "Nord Lead 2" or "Nord Rack 2" for reviews.

Cheers,
Steve

Thank you. just because I don't see it written clearly anywhere, how hard/easy is it to get sounds from the rack to a computer and vice versa, if it's possible at all...

Not sure I understand the question... are you referring to patches/sounds or recording actual audio? Saving and loading patches is done via MIDI, recording audio is done via the audio outs and your audio interface/soundcard.

That answers my question! If the deal I am bidding on falls through, I will be very interested in your NR2. Does this device plug in using USB? Also is a soundcard(computer) required or just suggested? Thanx

It's not a USB thing... READ UP ON IT! If you want to record it, duhh, you're gonna have to hook it up to a line in! Or use a multi-track recorder. But at this point, I think you should probably concentrate more on reading up on how to produce and record music before investing in hardware, because the questions that your asking are pretty much screaming out "I don't know what I'm doing at all"
I'm feeling bleh right now..

I'd say I know a lot about producing music in software, but I've never used hardware gear (other than CDJ's and a mixer) to create anything. So in other words I am definitely a newb when it comes to hardware, which is why I asked those questions. You're very right in assuming that I don't know what I am doing, that doesn't mean that I don't have a pretty good idea of what I am doing though. It's just the details that I am unsure about, things I couldn't know without having used any hardware. Like I can always assume that I can plug the rack into my mixer and then my mixer into my computer and then i can record whatever sounds are been made... but I wouldn't know for example that i NEED a soundcard or a midi keyboard and so on and so forth. Also, I mentioned USB because some hardware synths do use a USB interface for MIDI stuff... and would you recommend a specific site to check out pro-gear reviews and such? the clavia website is kind of minimal and technically versed.

you need a soundcard, idealy with 1/4 inch ins, and you need a midi interface, and a controller (the last two could be combined, most usb controllers have a midi out). You also need software that can send out midi data and record audio.
