i blame shitty city planning like 'jane and finch' and 'regent park', 'moss park' notorious ghettos in the toronto area that spawn gun violence then in turn putting fear into the youth of toronto enough to carry fire arms themself for protection.. one of the comunitys in wich ive live myself ..and it's no walk in the park at regent park and moss park. i think they need to have more police officers walking the beat in relativly secluded comunitys wich have a high potentials in gun violence and drug trade. i would rarely see even a police car in my area ..night or day. it's redic if you ask me.

one time, I was working with this director, L'Ecuyer. We're scouting the area that was already selected for a crime tv show (Blue Murder). We were in a ghetto of Toronto which the name eludes me. We chill in the local park sunday afternoon. It was fall but it wasn't cold. There was not a one kid around. The whole neighborhood was dead. The b-ball courts were empty. It was nice the production later donate chain net for the baskets. The place was downrodden, and the main house for the shoot was the worst house of the 'hood. Broken chain link fence, junk all over the backyard.

L'Ecuyer was a former heroine addict, and probly seen alot of Montreal and Toronto underbelly . The director told that the food shop where we got our coffee used to be a drug distribution. People would come and order their coffee and food to go. The pot would be hidden in a false bottom of the coffee cup. Heh, yes,i did check my cup.

The strange thing to me was that he live like 5 minutes from the shoot location. A director makes good money and he lives in a nice apt block and hood. But man, we stroll just a few blocks and it was poverty ghetto. It was so weird, there was no progression of housing qualities. It just went good to worse, no medium.

Toronto isn't Detroit or Cleveland but it looks it wants to be.
