This show ruled. It was short but sweet. Probably only 45 mins max, but she said that was all the music she has... The sound was really good. I pretty sure she will be getting really popular, now that shes opening for Gwen Stefani on her next tour.

only i disliked it almost ??
too short, not so tight, the chick singin' along was wrong, everytime they'd have to actually *sing* some musical notes, they'd be off the keys, no big musician technicalities here, mais quand ça fausse ça fausse ..

saw the same show, but with Diplo as the dj, the exact same show as LCD Soundsystem's opening act ..
which was fine cuz early on M.I.A's tour and an opening act,
but a few months later ...same shit ...as short ...nothing improved ..and no Diplo ...

dont get me wrong, Maya's got that mad charisma, raps well, dances like crazy, nice stage presence, its just the details that would've made me pissed off if i had to pay for it ...but i didnt ...

overall lotsa fun despite the packed dancefloor ...that quickly becomes no dancefloor at all ...

dont listen to my point of view, i'm a jaded fucker

hey i agree wit Paul Wall, i LOVE M.I.A, but i was dissapointed in the show as well....too short.

i thought the sound was off- kinda muddy, and I mean i think there could have been better bass- those huge speakers...like WTF?
also- the no Diplo thing was really dissapointing for me as well...some random ass Dj was there...

and it was so start and stop...i never got my hardcore dance on....i'm too used to seeing good Dj's in this city, and not used to seeing concerts and bands, etc. anymore.....crowds...blech.

yea, def. thinking the too big too fast- and now she sold a song to Honda....she announced it...but i really think it;s sad cause it;s obvious that her creativity and future releases will most likely be influenced by all this, i would have liked to see what she would have done next...i mean it may be very good....who knows.

I wish i could say it was amazing and that i had a wikkid time!
but i had my hopes up way too high.

i still reeally respect her for coming out with fresh style at a time when it was really needed i feel......i really like how so many normal people are into grimey beats, and breaks now, without even knowing it!

I lost all respect for M.I.A. after listening to her disgusting comment at this show: "I sold my music to Honda... but [that's ok because] I was starving in Sri Lanka when I was 9 years old!"

That is the most pathetic thing I've ever heard in my life. It would almost be funny if it were ironic. I give blowjobs in the alley for money... but that's ok because at one point my life sucked more than yours!

I never understood what was so wrong about trying to make money and a living off of what you love. Is she pulling a Metallica and changing her sound to suit the "masses"?

Like holy shit, people other than hardcore underground music fans like your music? It must mean that it sucks and that the artist behind it is a sellout, obviously.

How many Beatles tracks have been in car/insurance/McDonalds comercials? Does that mean that the beatles suck and are sellouts with no musical value? No, it just means that you are a stupid cunt who is more interested in the image you want to project rather than the music you listen to.

You're missing my point. It's not that she 'sold out' (whatever that means), it's that she was trying to justify it by saying she was 'starving in Sri Lanka'.

What the fuck has she got to justify to anyone? She sold a track to Honda and she use to be hungry as a kid, BIG FUCKING DEAL. Maybe her hunger was her motivation to make the best music she was capable of so she wouldn't ever be in that situation ever again?

Shit, I guess starving is absolutely no reason to try and make money to eat and not starve anymore. I guess I've got this whole "living" thing ass-backwards.
