At $49, Mighty Mouse features the revolutionary Scroll Ball that lets you move anywhere inside a document, without lifting a finger. And with touch-sensitive technology concealed under the seamless top shell, you get the programability of a four-button mouse in a single-button design.

Man, that's amazing. 4 mouse buttons AND a scroll-wheel.

Next thing you know they're going to invent the "eject" button for their CD-ROM drives!

Always one step ahead of the pack, these guys!

if you check the mouse, it has no real buttons.. it is a touch sensitive surface that you can program to do anything you want..

In other words, it's too complicated for most mac users

what i find funny, is that companies release new products all the time, yet everytime apple releases something it goes under intense scrutiny.. why is that? they hold about 5% market share.. :|

when was the last time you saw Dell do ANYTHING innovative other than lower their prices .. ?

i don't see the point in innovating something that doesn't need to be innovated. The standard pc mouse hasn't changed in 10 years. A mouse is a mouse. The fact that mac actually had a 1 button mouse just goes to show you that under all the cool stuff Mac might have , there is some moron making decisions somewhere in that company.

the biggest change to the mouse has been the move to optical mice, which is a huge improvement.. the old ball mechanism sucked ass.. mice used to never last more than 8 months for me, where as I have had optical mice for years without them breaking

It's all about trackballs. I've never had a trackball clog up like a mouseball would and need cleaning, plus now that everything is optical, optical trackballs completely pwn everything out there.
